The Craft Beer Festival, set to take place on Friday, 23 May, will offer a one-day showcase of more than 20 unique Czech breweries—many of which don’t typically distribute in the capital.
Held in the outdoor area in front of Cross Club, the event promises a mix of flavors, styles, and brewing philosophies, all designed to challenge your taste buds and expand your beer horizons.
These are beers you won’t usually find on tap in the capital—many come from smaller regional brewers, and some are produced by so-called nomadic breweries, which brew their beer wherever they can find space.
They don’t own their own facilities, but they bring their own recipes, brewing styles, and ideas to existing breweries. It’s an approach that keeps things flexible, personal, and often more experimental than what you’d get from big commercial producers.
The festival will include some non-alcoholic craft options as well.
As with any beer event, food plays a big role. There’ll be burgers, Belgian fries, Colombian street food, and the usual Cross Club menu.
DJs will be playing all evening, and ticket holders get free entry to Cross Club later that night.
For Czech speakers, there’s a bonus: Martin Rybar, an expert in particle physics, will give a short talk on the science behind beer brewing.
Admission to the festival includes a festival beer glass worth 100 CZK. Tickets are available now at a discounted presale rate.

A new special tram has begun service in Prague to commemorate the 80th anniversary of the Prague Uprising and the end of World War II.
Decorated in the Czech national colors and titled “Prague, the City of Heroes,” the tram was officially unveiled on Tuesday, May 6, in Stromovka Park.
This Škoda 15T tram will operate across the city for the next six months, bringing history to life with visuals that honor the resilience and bravery of Prague’s citizens during the May 1945 uprising against Nazi occupation. The tram bears key dates and symbols of that period, offering a moving tribute to those who resisted.
According to Deputy Mayor Jiří Pospíšil, the initiative serves as a living reminder of how Prague’s history is intertwined with its everyday life. “The Prague Uprising is an extremely important moment in our history. This tram will remind both residents and visitors how essential it is to preserve and pass down these values to future generations,” he said during the launch.
Inside the tram, passengers will find informative panels describing not only the Prague Uprising, but also other crucial events from the final days of World War II in Czech territory.
Eleven themed displays highlight episodes such as the fire at the Old Town Hall, the return of Czechoslovak air squadrons, and the roles played by the Russian Liberation Army (ROA), Soviet forces, and American troops.
In addition to the tram, the city has launched a panel exhibition titled “V as Victory” at Mariánské náměstí in Prague 1. Open to the public until May 30, 2025, the outdoor display explores the liberation of Prague and the war’s closing chapter. Full details are available here
Another exhibition, “Old Town Square in Flames,” is now open at the Museum of Memory of the 20th Century.

Angela Merkel, Germany’s longest-serving chancellor, will visit Prague for a rare public appearance and her first-ever live interview in the Czech Republic.
She will speak with Czech journalist Tomáš Lindner about her memoir Freedom and reflect on the state of democracy in Germany and Europe.
For sixteen years, Merkel led Europe’s most powerful country through an extraordinary period marked by financial crashes, the refugee crisis, the COVID-19 pandemic, and the war in Ukraine.
Her newly released autobiography offers a behind-the-scenes look at how key decisions were made during her time in office — decisions that helped define modern Europe.
In the book, Merkel also examines her East German upbringing and how life under communism shaped her worldview. In the Respekt-hosted interview, she is expected to expand on these themes and provide new insights into the complex realities of political leadership.
The discussion will continue the narrative laid out in Freedom, now available in Czech thanks to Práh Publishing, which is also partnering on the event.
Since its release, the Czech edition of Merkel’s memoir has gone into its third printing, underlining the strong interest in her legacy. Copies of the book will be available for purchase at the venue.
Event Information:
The interview will be conducted in German, with simultaneous translation into Czech. Each ticket includes a pair of headphones for live translation. For those fluent in German, there is also an option to attend without headphones when purchasing tickets.
Due to enhanced security measures, doors to the venue will open at 5:00 p.m. to ensure all attendees can be seated comfortably in time. Timely arrival is strongly recommended.
All ticketing and logistical details are managed via GoOut.
