There’s only one thing to do when the heat and humidity hit – find the nearest rooftop bar and cool down with a cocktail or two.
It might not have the same skyscrapers as New York or Tokyo, but there are some jaw-dropping rooftop bars in Europe. From London to Luxembourg and everywhere in between, here’s the 2022 roundup of the best rooftop bars in Europe ranked by Big 7 Travel.
Their ranking system uses aggregated scores taking into account online reviews from Google, Tripadvisor, and previous media coverage, as well as input from the editorial team on factors including rooftop views, design, and drinks list, they have revealed the hottest places to sip ‘n’ social distance this summer.
We were chuffed to see at least one Prague hotspot mentioned in the running.
Balcony Bar Prague
Big 7 Travel describes Balcony Bar as “a charming rooftop bar in the very centre of Prague, with a view of Národní třída and the National Theatre. It’s inspired by hip rooftop bars in cities such as New York or London, but with a historical Czech take on it.”
The intimate restaurant offers seating for 25 on the terrace and seating for 30 inside. Balcony Bar offers innovative tapas and grilled skewers; the skewers, made on an English charcoal grill, feature intriguing combinations and flavors including delicate and crispy garlic squid, prawns grilled with chorizo, sesame beef, duck liver with oregano, and chicken with lavender.
Skewers are accompanied by mouthwatering homemade sauces such as roasted garlic aioli, ketchup, and thyme and spicy chili sauce.
The wine list is truly impressive – with approx. 25 wines offered by the glass and approx. 60 types of champagnes offered by the bottle – you can be sure there is something at Balcony Bar for all tastes.
