In Česká Lípa, a group of wild boars caused quite a stir when they unexpectedly wandered into a local theatre during a live performance.
The seven boars made their way through the historic town centre, seemingly taking in the sights before entering the Jiráskovo Divadlo Theatre, where the opening of the new season was underway.
The surprising encounter took place on the evening of Thursday, September 5th.
“We were hosting our first performance of the year when the boars suddenly appeared,” joked Mayor Jitka Volfová. “We laughed, saying they came to check out the theatre that’s been nominated for the Building of the Year 2024 award — and perhaps to sample the new bar as well.”
Despite the amusement, police were unable to determine where these unexpected theatre enthusiasts had come from. The effort to guide them back to the forest took about an hour.
“The boars were initially driven out of the theatre by staff members,” explained a representative from the local law enforcement.
“By that time, municipal and national police patrols, along with city forestry staff, were already searching for them. The herd was eventually escorted out of the city and back into the forest.”
Fortunately, the unusual incident ended peacefully, with no injuries reported among the people or the boars.
While the boars’ unexpected visit brought a touch of the wild to the theatre that evening, it seems both species enjoyed a brief and harmless “cultural exchange.”
