The owner of the Czech web portal and search engine Seznam.cz, Ivo Lukacovic, has sent 100 million crowns for the purchase of arms of Ukraine, in reaction to pictures and reports from the Ukrainian town Bucha after the departure of Russian soldiers who occupied it.

Czech Prime Minister Petr Fiala congratulated Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban on his election victory. “After the elections, I believe Hungary will be more actively involved in dealing with the Russian aggression in Ukraine. Europe must be united and must support Ukraine,” Fiala said.

The Czech Republic has now issued nearly 260,000 special visas to Ukrainian refugees, according to the Ministry of the Interior. The number a week previously was 236,000, though there has been a slow-down in daily numbers.

Hundreds of thousands of Ukrainian refugees may want to stay in the Czech Republic after the end of the Russo-Ukrainian conflict, with Czech Interior Minister Vít Rakušan estimating as many as a third of current refugees may request to stay.

A 19-year-old student has been charged with murdering his teacher in Thursday’s machete attack at a school in Prague, the Czech News Agency reported on Sunday. The defendant could face between 12 to 20 years in jail if convicted.
