The new month brings lots of new and amazing events to Prague! Check out our selection of the 8 best events taking place in March.
1. Festival of Delicate Flavours
Do you like food festivals? This Sunday in March, the Festival of Delicate Tastes will take place at the New Town Hall. On 17 March, traditional and non-traditional dishes from different parts of the world will be waiting for you there, as well as an offer of coffee, delicious wines and other drinks.
In addition, you will have the opportunity to taste a variety of dishes such as Belgian fries, sweet churros, pork buns, curries, homemade bacon, sausages, jams and wine. The festival is for anyone who wants to spend a Sunday in a relaxed atmosphere with friends, family or just strolling through historic Prague and enjoying delicious food.
We recommend to visit SmÃchovská náplavka on Saturday 2 March 2024, where another year of the popular PolÃvkovánà event will take place.
You will be warmed not only by traditional soups such as potato soup, kulajda, cabbage soup, lentil soup, pumpkin soup, dumpling soup, or honest broths but also soups from all over the world, such as Russian borscht, Mexican chips, Malaysian laksa, French bouillabaisse, Vietnamese pho, Moroccan harira or the increasingly popular Japanese ramen. For vegetarians or vegans, there will be a wide selection of vegetable creams and legume soups.
An inseparable part of spring is Easter and so are the markets where you can celebrate this beautiful tradition. From March to April, Prague will also celebrate Easter at various places such as Old Town Square, Václavské námÄ›stÃ, NámÄ›stà Republiky, NámÄ›stà MÃru or Prague Castle.
Visitors may look forward to folk music, several demonstrations of folk crafts, art workshops for children as well as to many traditional Easter specialties hand-painted Easter eggs, Easter bunnies and chicks, pomlázky, Easter pastries – mazance, lambs, Easter decorations, candles, handicrafts, and wooden toys.
4. The Lord of the Rings in Concert
There’s probably no one who doesn’t know The Lord of the Rings – either the books or the movies. The epic music that accompanied the second part of this popular trilogy, The Two Towers, will be performed in a spectacular projection accompanied by 230 members of the symphony orchestra, choir, and international soloists on 22 and 23 March 2024 at the O2 universum in Prague.
The film will be screened in English with Czech subtitles. Each performance is guaranteed to be an unforgettable artistic experience.
We also have a great event for all coffee lovers. The annual Barista of the Year – Coffee festival, national barista championship, will take place this year on March 15th and 16th at a new venue, as the event will be bigger than ever before – in the Královka sports hall in Prague Letná.
You will have the opportunity to see the best of the best in the Barista and Latte Art categories. In addition, you can enjoy delicious coffee, listen to interesting lectures and get to know the Czech coffee community.
On the first weekend in March, the KD Mlejn in Prague’s Stodůlky will host a celebration of children’s games and fun. From 1 to 3 March, all children from 10 months to 3 years will be able to enjoy the theatre, try out movement and music workshops or have fun in the large KUK playroom.
Children will have fun and enjoy a day full of games and workshops. For example, they will have the opportunity to try out the circus, come into the playroom department and much more.
7. Holiday World & Region World Exhibition
Would you like to travel the whole world in one place? This festival will make it possible! The 32nd edition of the traditional Holiday World & Region World will take place from 17 to 19 March at the famous PVA EXPO PRAHA exhibition centre in Prague’s Letňany.
The national tourist headquarters of traditional European countries as well as distant destinations such as America, Asia, and Africa will be on display. The exhibition will be the largest showcase of trends and innovations in tourism practically in the whole country. The organizers have also prepared various quizzes and competitions for visitors.
8. Festival One World in Prague
In the last week of March, Prague will host the world’s largest festival of human rights documentaries, One World!
From 20 to 28 March, come to various Prague cinemas to see 90 documentaries focusing on human rights, human rights violations and the problems society is currently facing that the festival cannot ignore.
