All-day breakfasts, Italian wine with salty tartlets, handmade pizza, and pasta, open kitchen with a varied menu you can find this all in one place.
My friends often ask me to recommend a place for breakfast, lunch, or dinner, and also to have a meeting over a glass of wine. They are always surprised that for each of these occasions I recommend only one place: La Mouka.
La Mouka is an Italian restaurant which is located near I.P. Pavlova, where you can also have a delicious lunch (during weekdays from 12 am to 2 pm there is a 20% discount on the entire menu), meet friends for a cup of coffee with some dessert, watch how homemade pasta is prepared on open kitchen and just take a break from the bustle of the city.
I like everything in here: the picture on the wall, light and air, the presence of an air conditioner, a cozy summer terrace, an open kitchen, a relaxed atmosphere, and a bar.
I love this place, especially because of its budget and varied menu. It was my next impression after the local atmosphere – well-coordinated menu, with a pleasant selection of simple dishes, each of which, nevertheless, has some kind of light flirting: Pasta Carbonara (180 czk); Caesar with chicken (160 czk); Pizza Margherita with fresh basil (170 czk) and Lavender Lime dessert (130 czk)
La Mouka is special because of its first-class service; I do not often meet such a high level of service. They treat everyone friendly, with the utmost care and respect. As it turns out later, the restaurant management has a lot of experience with Hyatt and the Ritz-Carlton.
I also would like to note the opportunity to try Italian wine and prosecco by the glass before buying a bottle. To be honest, I saw such small and stylish glasses for the first time in my life. My friends and I love to come here in the evening to discuss how the day went, and at the same time to take salty tartlets with wine.
They always have a lot of them in the window and these tartlets always have different tastes. I suggest the one with blue cheese and pear. They are aesthetically beautiful, they do not crumble, and do not require utensils. These tartlets are completely homemade which is ideal for catering in boxes, which La Mouka has already done more than once.
Here you can celebrate your birthday: 5 days before and after the party, you will receive a discount of 20% off all menu.
Knowing the delicious authentic Italian cuisine firsthand, I highly recommend this restaurant to visit. I’m sure you’ll be satisfied and have a great time.

What if I told you that the question of where to find the best burgers in Prague has finally been answered?
If you haven’t guessed yet, the place is John Polpo, a cozy and comfortable new bistro in Žižkov.
Here, you can have coffee, play board games, work, drink some craft beer, eat desserts, celebrate a birthday, and most importantly, eat delicious burgers.
Arthur, the owner of John Polpo, along with his wife Olga, have long dreamed of opening a business of their own. The first space they found was on Seifertova street.
It was there that they decided to develop the concept of a craft burger bistro with high-quality ingredients. At their new location, much larger than the original space, they offer plenty of room for takeaway orders as well a dining space.
When I visited for myself, we got the menu very quickly and the service was on point. The order itself took about 10 minutes, which is an excellent time period.
There are five burgers on the menu ranging from the John Bacon burger to the burger with gorgonzola, pear, and beef. My personal preference is the “Full House XXL Meat”. The burger itself is large (you definitely won’t stay hungry) and includes fresh buns, very juicy cutlet, cheese, and crispy vegetables. Be sure to order a sweet potato with parmesan aside, it’s my favorite.
In 2021, John Polpo won the rising star award from Bolt, for which they were awarded a golden broccoli.
Last but not least: On May 1, this place will be a year old and there will be a big party to celebrate the anniversary!

Today coffee lovers have a place to roam- coffee can vary in all kinds with the taste of nuts and roasted bread, with smoky shades and sourness of grapefruit, with hints of chocolate almonds and cherries on cognac.
The service is also on top: freshly roasted coffee beans can be bought at any decent coffee house (or ordered online) – a few years ago people could only dream of this. Coffee continues its expansion in the city, and more and more enthusiasts open not only their own coffee houses, but also start roasting their own coffee.
The outgoing year was generous with new projects. Kavafaktura has recently opened a point in Modřany where you can always try freshly roasted coffee and have a glass of wine. This is a spacious showroom of coffee beans with seating.
The new Kavafaktura branch is located in a modern building in a residential area next to a bus stop (you won’t pass by). The guys acquired a whole army of loyal fans. I was there on a Sunday and only a couple of tables were available. That fact itself deserves a lot of respect. Here you can work on your laptop, enjoy a book accompanied by a cup of hot drink or chat with a barista. They do brew classics and filter. In addition to coffee, the menu has a variety of desserts.
I spoke to Dildar, who has been with Kavafaktura Head Barista for over two years.
“Our boss is a lawyer. Some time ago he traveled a lot and his friend from Germany invited him to visit. This same friend worked in a coffee house as a roaster. Once our boss observed such a picture in a friend’s coffee shop: on a cloudy, rainy morning a woman came to them. She ordered a cup of coffee, sat down on the street, in the rain and sadly looked into the distance. The barista decided to cheer her up and drew a pattern with the sun using latte art. He brought her coffee with the words “let your mood be wonderful”, in response, the woman gave him a smile for the first time in a long time. It was at that moment that our boss realized that coffee is more than just a drink. He realized that coffee brings people together, that this simple but interesting drink can change the fate of many.
The main value of Kavafaktura is the staff. This is clearly seen when you just order coffee. The barista will chat with you, give you grain advice or patiently answer any questions you may have. It’s logical, isn’t it? Morning is the best time for coffee: people run to work, not always in the best mood, but here they are greeted with a smile, care and still brew delicious coffee.
“Our boss quit a month after that incident” – Dildar continues. – He went to study, learned how to roast coffee beans himself. In 2015, he opened his first branch on Narodni, which, unfortunately, no longer works. But this coffee house, in which we are now sitting, has been working for 4 months in a row.
Here you can also buy fresh coffee beans of your own roasting from 12 countries of the world. There are several interesting (mix of grains) of 100% Arabica in the assortment.
The grains here are neither too sour nor too bitter. Specialty coffee lovers will find their favorite here, and even sophisticated customers who, for example, love decaffeinated coffee, will also be pleased with the large selection. There are blends with robusta – they are suitable for those who, on the contrary, love a large amount of caffeine and cannot imagine their life without it.
So far, coffee can be bought only by arriving at a coffee shop, but this is a great reason to visit one of the Kavafaktura branches.
I don’t even remember when I first learned about Kavafaktura. Then I visited their coffee house in Prague 10: I remember that I was pleasantly surprised by the size of the coffee house itself. There were parents with children, and a young couple, and a woman who obviously lived in the same house and came here every morning. With all this, we did not interfere with each other and did not hear other people’s conversations.
I ordered a filter, because I went here purposefully to try the coffee of its roasting. Then I especially liked the coffee menu. It just seems endless. Coffee of variations for every taste.
Coffee.Sweets.Love – this is the main motto of Kavafaktura. I don’t want to leave this place, and do I need to.

Products from yeast dough in the form of a ring – bagels are distinguished by a memorable taste. The peculiarity of their preparation is that before baking they are lightly scalded in water.
The resulting “bagel” is cut in half to add the filling to the sandwich – it can be the most diverse: both hearty, and sweet, and salty.
Originating in Europe, this dish has become almost a cult classic in the United States, and are especially loved by New Yorkers.
Bagels with coffee, as a breakfast option (are quick, satisfying, and tasty), often appear in films and books describing American life.
In a word, this phenomenon is firmly established in American culture. If you have said at least once in your life: “Can I have everything bagel with cream cheese, toasted”, then you definitely understand what it is about.
Today I went to Můj Bagel. When I think about this place my mouth fills with saliva. People come here from other parts of the city just to taste this piece of art in the world of bagels.
Můj Bagel has a small but cosy room with only three tables- and have an open kitchen where you can watch the culinary process of making the tasty treats.
They have a huge selection of flavours and fillings to choose from. You have a chance to taste original and new flavours, which are definitely not found anywhere else in Prague.
Můj Bagel also has plenty of vegan options, and even the sweet bagels are made from vegan chocolate- so there are many options that will suit everyone.
For me, it is always important that the cafe also has delicious and high-quality coffee. Here you will be brewed fresh coffee from Coffeesource, and there is also a very large menu with drinks; smoothies, teas, cocktails, mulled wine, etc.
Mousse desserts with exclusive recipe have recently appeared in Můj Bagel too. A well-balanced bagel, coffee and dessert is the perfect combination for a tasty meal.
The holidays are getting closer and closer every day and you have not yet decided how to make your Christmas dinner really special, then I have an idea for you.
If you are a real hedonist, esthete, and lover of everything beautiful, you must have already been to Café Milleme. Prague Morning has already published several articles about the history, interior and special offers of this place. Everyone praises this place, and I understand why.
The patisserie itself is located in the very center of the city: it is easy to spot it by the window, through which you will see the desserts that look like a real work of art. If you go inside, you will immediately find an interior designed in the same style and incredibly clean showcase, full of the most aesthetic delicacies for every taste.
I would like to highlight the New Year collection. Yes, yes, desserts here are changed depending on the season, each collection differs from the previous one and, in addition…. they are limited!
Have you ever seen Christmas ball-shaped desserts? Each of them is unique and has the name of the city with which the ingredients are most associated. For example, cherries, dark chocolate and gingerbread prevail in the Strasbourg dessert, isn’t it logical? My favorite is Sydney: incredibly tender coconut mousse, fresh passionfruit cream and coconut sponge cake. After the first bite, you will fall in love with these desserts.
The main favorites of this month will be the incredibly beautiful house-shaped cakes made of mousse with dark chocolate, praline, hazelnut biscuit and ganache with caramelized nuts – the height of sophistication and style. There’s a swiss roll inside. I’m not lying.
There is also a special Christmas tree cake with matcha, passion fruit ganache and mango biscuit. It tastes like something fresh, with a slight sourness and moderate sweetness. Such cakes can and should be ordered in advance for the Christmas or New Year’s table in order to please yourself and your loved ones.
Every time I visit Cafe Milleme I am amazed at how workaholic and creative the chef Adina is. She’s is constantly improving herself – creating and making every collection of desserts, coming up with new recipes.
Adina has a very responsible approach towards her work: she chooses the highest quality and the best products for her desserts. The love invested is felt by every guest on a subconscious level. Maybe that’s why everyone wants to come back here.
Fortunately, I managed to get to know her personally and I began to admire her even more. I have participated in several workshops where she shared a few recipes and some life hacks. I could definitely write a separate whole article about Adina.
The number of cases in the country is increasing, but Prague is not discouraged. The onset of Christmas distracts from worries: open fairs, with people in line for freshly cut Christmas trees or waiting around to buy tons of wrapping paper.
Food-wise, the local coffee shops are brimming with aromatic coffee, fresh pastries and self-roasted beans. But no in Prague one does innovative and specialty coffee drinks better than The Miners.
“Nothing is impossible” is the motto on their website. After talking with Egor (the main co-owner of The MINERS)one realizes that much is true.
Egor opened his first coffee house when at age 19. It is still open, and any curious reader can find it at Tusarova 25. Once a newcomer to the coffe scene, now everyone knows The Miners as a successfully growing chain.
Prague Morning met with Egor in one of the coffee houses — Churchill (as the locals call it, all because the coffee shop is located in the business center of the same name).
This coffee house feels special — a world of its own where various people indulge in their activities, surrounded by the delicious smells wafting from behind the register.
Per Egor, the concept was to create the atmosphere of a metropolis. As such, everything was reminiscent of Manhattan. There’s a student girl, apparently from the medical faculty, she holds a huge bone in her hands and describes it, twisting it and she jots her observations in a notebook.
There is a young guy, actively typing something on his MacBook and stomping his foot in time to his music in big headphones. Two men are sitting at a table next to each other, enthusiastically discussing something — only scraps of words like “startup”, “profit” and “concept” are heard from their conversation. Here customers are compelled to create, enjoy the atmosphere of freedom, feel life while drinking delicious fresh coffee.
The menu is also distinct in its own right, with this location serving brunch on weekends. The seasonal drinks — warming and unusual — are also sure to please.
The Miners has their own roastery. Egor shared insider information, stating that this project will soon move to a new level: the room will be larger and clients will be able to watch the roasting process from the street.
“Miners Coffee is a cool product of high quality. Our clients are people from different countries with completely different cultural backgrounds, but they are all united by their love for our coffee. We make it simple and understandable and very tasty,” he explained.
On Saturday, a new coffee shop opened at Zelezná 13 in the very center of Prague next to Old Town Square.
“I’ll tell you a secret, we are planning to open coffee shops in Barcelona, Bratislava and in several other locations in Prague soon. We are clearly moving towards our goal to be a recognizable specialty chain of coffee houses in Europe,” said Egor.
Another thing customers can look forward to is the service opportunities. Baristas and other employees are given the opportunity to express themselves, carefully monitor their progress up the career ladder and constantly train. They accept onto the team those for whom coffee and self-development is life.
Prague’s specialty coffee scene has grown tremendously in the past few years. Our review series “Your Prague Mug” in cooperation with a certified coffee lover, advisor and expert living in the city, Olga, will let you in on some of the best coffee shop gems in the capital. This week, she headed to the Botanica coffee truck…
Are you ready to see the most ‘Instagrammed’ place in town? Head down to the Botanica coffee truck in Vršovice -one of the oldest districts in the southeast of the central part of Prague.
You will be greeted by a cozy courtyard, fresh green color, and seasonal decoration- the epicenter of attention being the gorgeous truck.
At this unique coffee shop, the scenery changes depending on the season: everything is screaming “Autumn” now, but if you come in a month, everything will look different, and because there are many plants inside that bloom at different times of the year – the garden never looks the same.
Botanica coffee truck is something that the doctor prescribes to the people of Prague, who are tired of the twilight and cold autumn. The list of treatments is short and enjoyable: drink a classic espresso or a seasonal drink, meditate on various plants in the garden, raise your blood sugar with a little cake, and recharge your solar panel.
The only desire you have here is to enjoy a cup of something hot and let the whole world pass you by.
The truck is always full of fashionably dressed people, happy mothers with children and ladies craving beautiful pictures- chopping up their carrot cake and licking the froth from their cappuccino.
If you want to see the process of making your drink, you can wait right next to the truck where there is a possibility to catch a few exclusive details of brewing coffee and the skill of the barista. Last time I did have to wait about 15 minutes for my coffee. If you want something quick to go, because you are in a hurry to work – this place will probably not suit you.
There is also a large flower shop on the territory of the Botanica coffee truck: you must drop in here after a cup of hot coffee and, inspired by the arrangement of plants in pots on the patio, take home one of your favorite plants with you.
I must admit that this was not my first visit to this cafe: I have come here four times already. I believe that to compose an adequate review, you need to visit the cafe a couple of times because it may be that on a certain day the barista is not in the mood, or maybe the coffee shop runs out of milk… However, in my case, I literally have had no luck with matcha every time.
Nevertheless, this would not stop me recommending this place. There is no doubt that this is the shop where you can take the coolest photos and enjoy the unique courtyard with an unusual concept. Will I come here again? My answer is unequivocal yes! But hopefully, I will have more luck with my matcha next time!

Prague’s specialty coffee scene has grown tremendously in the past few years. It is on this premise that we have decided to launch a reviews’ series “Your Prague Mug” in cooperation with a certified coffee lover, advisor and expert living in the city, Olga.
To begin the series, Olga went to Mari Vanna coffee house, to find out what they have to offer.
I initially saw this place on Instagram. Pictures from this coffee shop and its unusual interior appeared on my friends’ social networks towards the end of last year. Beautiful furniture of the 60s-70s, which evokes memories of my childhood, colorful stylish dishes, eye-catching elements, and soft enveloping light – all of this made me need to go and check it out.
This coffee shop is located in Prague 7, which is famous for its designer shops, hipster restaurants, numerous galleries, and city festivals. It is also dubbed the ART District. Mari Vanna coffee house itself fits perfectly into the urban landscape: a nice “zahradka” or a garden, beautiful lights, and a huge rowan tree right at the entrance.
One Saturday morning I went to Mari Vanna. I saw a spacious cafe with about 17 seats, an interesting bar counter, and a huge showcase with various desserts. As it turned out, I managed to get to know the owner of this establishment, the only visitors were a young couple and me: the beautiful lady Alexandra shared the story of Mari Vanna with me, and I want to share a small part with you readers.
“When I was making this coffee shop, I always sat down in the place of the guest and thought about how it would be more convenient and pleasant for him to be here,” Alexandra told me.
You can feel how very energy, warmth and love have been invested in this place.
The menu at Mari Vanna is simple and straightforward: everything fits on one page. Espresso can be bought for 49 CZK, a cappuccino costs 65 CZK. There is not only specialty coffee among the drinks- you can also find matcha, different tea, and soft drinks. The menu also includes alcoholic cocktails and wine.
“We are usually open until 20:00, but since we have cocktails on the menu, we are happy to stay with the guests until they want to leave our coffee shop,” added Alexandra.
All the desserts in the Mari Vanna are homemade. My eyes were running wild, and it took me a long time to decide what to try first. As a result, I took the newest of the presented pastries – a croissant with pistachio cream and I was not mistaken. I also took a few more desserts with me: a matcha roll with blueberries, a cinnamon roll, and a chocolate chip cookie.
In my opinion, this place is underestimated and that is why I wanted to share it with you; here you will be treated as the most welcome guest. When I left the coffee shop, I decided that I needed to come back here with my friends next week and show them this hidden gem.
Mari Vanna in Šmeralova 146/6, 170 00 Praha 7-Bubeneč, opens Monday to Friday from 8:00 am to 8:00 pm, and from 9:00 am to 8:00 pm during weekend. It is possible to make all sorts of events here- such as meetings, birthdays, workshops.
