Bolt is launching a carsharing service in Prague, putting 400 cars on the streets.
The service, called Bolt Drive, will be accessible through the same app used for Bolt’s other services, such as taxis and scooters.
Bolt Drive will offer various models of Audi and Toyota cars, including both internal combustion and hybrid options. These cars will be available in two price categories.
The available models include Audi A1, A3, Q2, and Toyota Yaris, Corolla, and CH-R, with options for both internal combustion and hybrid engines.
There are two price tiers: one starting at 1 crown per minute plus 3 crowns per kilometer for the smallest car models, and the other charging 3 crowns per minute plus 4 crowns per kilometer. Additionally, there are more favorable hourly, daily, and weekly rates.
For comparison, the competing service Anytime starts at 2.99 crowns per minute plus 6.99 crowns per kilometer for the cheapest model, and 8.49 crowns per minute plus 3.99 crowns per kilometer for the most expensive.
Bolt Drive is integrated into the existing Bolt app, allowing users to choose between taking a taxi, renting a scooter, or renting a car with just one click.
To activate the service, users need to upload a photo of their driver’s license, ID, and a selfie. Approval typically takes a few minutes. Users must be at least 21 years old and have held a driver’s license for at least one year.
The app shows the nearest available cars, and users can book a car for free for 15 minutes to allow time to reach it. To complete the ride, the car must be parked in a designated parking space listed in the app.
Thanks to IoT-based chips, Bolt also monitors driving behavior, including speeding, and can remove reckless drivers after a few warnings.
Bolt Drive was first launched three years ago in Tallinn, Estonia, and has since expanded to Riga, Vilnius, and Berlin.
