Czech Republic joins initiative to protect children from risks of AI

The Czech Republic has joined a group of countries seeking to protect children from the potential impact of artificial intelligence. President Petr Pavel took part on Tuesday in a meeting led by his French counterpart Emmanuel Macron, who launched the initiative. One of the main messages of the meeting was that artificial intelligence should be designed to be safe for children from the outset.

Havel remains most highly rated post-1989 Czech president, poll finds

Václav Havel remains the most highly rated Czech president since the fall of communism, according to a new STEM/MARK poll. Václav Klaus ranked second, followed by incumbent President Petr Pavel, while Miloš Zeman remained fourth. Pavel received positive ratings for representing the country, promoting Czech interests abroad and using his presidential powers. Respondents were less positive about his ability to unite society and resolve political disputes.

Tram disruptions in central Prague due to track repairs

Tram services have been suspended across part of central Prague as the city's public transport operator (DPP) carries out track repairs in Spálená and Národní streets and on Vítězná Street near Újezd. The disruption affects the section between the Újezd and Lazarská stops. No replacement bus service has been introduced. The works are scheduled to continue until Monday, August 10.
