President Pavel denies campaigning for re-election

Czech President Petr Pavel says he has not yet decided whether to seek a second term and rejects claims that he is already campaigning for re-election. Speaking to CNN Prima News, Pavel said he plans to announce his decision in the middle of next year and would only begin campaigning after formally declaring his candidacy.

Špicar and Havel win world championship bronze

Czech kayakers Jakub Špicar and Daniel Havel have won bronze in the K2 500 metres at the Canoe Sprint World Championships in Poznań. It is their first world championship medal in the current Olympic discipline, after finishing fourth three times.

Tram disruptions in central Prague due to track repairs

Tram services have been suspended across part of central Prague as the city's public transport operator (DPP) carries out track repairs in Spálená and Národní streets and on Vítězná Street near Újezd. The disruption affects the section between the Újezd and Lazarská stops. No replacement bus service has been introduced. The works are scheduled to continue until Monday, August 10.
