Austria extends border checks with Czechia and other neighbours
Austria has extended border checks with Czechia, Slovakia, Hungary and Slovenia for another six months. Interior Minister Gerhard Karner said on Tuesday that the measures are still needed to fight illegal migration and people smuggling. Austria says the checks should have only a minimal impact on people who regularly cross the border for work.

100 people died on Czech roads during summer holidays
One hundred people died in traffic accidents on Czech roads during July and August, 12 more than last year. Police reported the figures on Tuesday. There were also more than 15,600 crashes, an increase of over 900 from last summer. The most common causes were speeding and drivers not paying enough attention.

Tram disruptions in central Prague due to track repairs
Tram services have been suspended across part of central Prague as the city's public transport operator (DPP) carries out track repairs in Spálená and Národní streets and on Vítězná Street near Újezd. The disruption affects the section between the Újezd and Lazarská stops. No replacement bus service has been introduced. The works are scheduled to continue until Monday, August 10.
