Education minister wants teachers’ salaries to gradually return to 130% of the average wage

In the coming years, he would like teachers’ salaries to increase by 6-7% annually. A key priority for him will be ensuring that the government’s policy program is fulfilled by 2029, promising a starting teacher salary of CZK 50,000 and an average salary of CZK 75,000.

The Czech minister of defence, Jaromír Zůna, says that the country will meet its NATO commitment to spend 2 percent of GDP on defence next year. He said the Ministry of Defence should have a budget of CZK 191 billion in 2027.

Tram disruptions in central Prague due to track repairs

Tram services have been suspended across part of central Prague as the city's public transport operator (DPP) carries out track repairs in Spálená and Národní streets and on Vítězná Street near Újezd. The disruption affects the section between the Újezd and Lazarská stops. No replacement bus service has been introduced. The works are scheduled to continue until Monday, August 10.
