Canadian International High School in Prague: Your Pathway to Top Universities Worldwide

Prague Morning

Earning an internationally recognized high school diploma and preparing for admission to top universities no longer requires moving abroad.

Canadian International High School in Prague (CIHS) offers students in Grades 10-12 a fully English-language education based on the Canadian curriculum.

Located in the heart of Prague, CIHS combines the strengths of Canada’s education system with the quality of life and accessibility of the Czech Republic. Students receive a globally recognized diploma while studying in a familiar European environment, avoiding the higher costs and challenges of relocating overseas.

An International Diploma Recognized Worldwide

Graduates earn the Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD), Canada’s official high school credential, recognized in more than 20 countries. The diploma provides access to over 30,000 universities and colleges worldwide, including leading institutions across Canada, the United States, the United Kingdom, and Europe.

Unlike the Czech education system, which typically spans 13 years, the Canadian program is completed in 12. As a result, students graduate a year earlier, begin university sooner, and gain an additional advantage as they build their academic and professional future.

Learning the Canadian Way

CIHS delivers its academic program in partnership with Toronto Imperial School, ensuring that students follow authentic Canadian educational standards. Courses are taught using modern curricula, teaching methods, and learning resources aligned with those used in Ontario schools.

English is the language of instruction across all subjects. An international faculty, including teachers from Canada, creates an immersive English-speaking environment that helps students strengthen their academic language skills and confidently transition into universities abroad.

To maintain high academic standards, all teachers undergo a rigorous selection process followed by professional training led by Canadian educators and the school’s academic partners.

Outstanding Value

Tuition is, on average, two to three times lower than at many international schools in Prague while offering an extensive range of included benefits.

Tuition covers:

  • the Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD)
  • an iPad for both academic and personal use
  • a complete school uniform
  • an annual gym membership
  • continuous academic guidance and support
  • educational trips to the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Switzerland, and Germany
  • participation in the Exchange program in the United States.

International Experience Beyond the Classroom

Education at CIHS extends well beyond the classroom. Each semester, students have the opportunity to join educational trips to Canada, the United States, the United Kingdom, Germany, Switzerland, and other destinations. These experiences include university campus visits, meetings with admissions representatives, and valuable insight into international higher education systems.

Students may also participate in the Exchange USA program, spending one or two semesters at one of 40 partner high schools across the United States. The program offers full immersion in American school life while strengthening English proficiency and developing valuable intercultural experience.

For students planning to continue their education in the U.S., CIHS also offers the opportunity to transfer to an American high school during Grade 12 on an F-1 student visa, complete their final year there, and graduate with a U.S. high school diploma.

A Modern Campus in Central Prague

The school is located in Holešovice, one of Prague’s fastest-growing and most vibrant districts. Its central location makes the campus easily accessible from virtually any part of the city by public transportation, while convenient parking is available for families.

The campus occupies a modern business complex close to parks and the Vltava riverfront, providing an ideal balance between study and recreation. Students also benefit from an on-site cafeteria and access to medical professionals, including general practitioners, dermatologists, immunologists, and allergists. Sports facilities, swimming pools, cafés, and shops are all within walking distance.

Personalized University Preparation

Beginning after Grade 10, students choose one of two academic pathways: Business & Social Science or Engineering, allowing them to focus on subjects aligned with their future university studies.

Throughout the program, experienced teachers and academic advisors provide personalized guidance, helping students develop essential academic skills, explore career options, and build competitive university applications.

Graduate Outcomes

By the time they graduate, CIHS students have gained far more than a high school diploma. They leave with:

  • the internationally recognized Ontario Secondary School Diploma
  • strong academic English proficiency
  • experience studying in an international environment
  • university admissions guidance
  • a global network of peers
  • participation in international educational programs
  • access to leading universities across Canada, the United States, the United Kingdom, Europe, and beyond.

Canadian International High School in Prague welcomes prospective students and their families to visit the campus, meet the faculty, and learn more about its Canadian curriculum. It’s an opportunity to experience a truly international education and earn a globally recognized diploma – while staying in the heart of Europe.
