Carsharing: Where to Rent a Car in Prague

Carsharing has been recently growing in the Czech Republic. The following is a list of three car-sharing companies that we can rely on in Prague. 

1. Car4way – Car4way has the largest number of cars out of all the carshare companies. They also offer electric cars and the possibility to have free parking in some of the areas in Prague, including those in the residential areas.

• Apps on the phone: Book cars, make reservation changes, and show maps with all available cars.
• Where to pick up a car: Areas in Prague, the nearest car can be found using the application.
• Transmission type: manual and automatic.
• Electric cars available: Yes

2. Autonapůl – The first Czech carsharing Autonapůl was launched in 2003 with the ambition of connecting all major cities in the Czech Republic. You can use shared vehicles in Prague, Brno, Pilsen, Liberec, Ostrava, Pardubice, Hradec Králové, Olomouc and České Budějovice.

• Apps on the phone: Not available. The car opens with the card you will receive when signing the contract
• Where to pick up a car: Prague 1, 4, 6, 7, and 10. In the booking system, you will see a map with the exact address where the car is standing.
• Transmission type: Only manual.
• Electric cars available: No.

3. Ajo – Offers online registration, a pay-per-card payment and cars can be picked up immediately once registration is complete.

• Apps on the phone: Available
• Where to pick up a car: Prague 1, 2, 3, 5, 6, 7 and 8. You can park for free in the blue and purple zones when returning for free. During the loan, you have to pay for parking on the blue and purple zones yourself.
• Transmission type: Only manual.
• Electric cars in the stable: No.
