Aux Merveilleux de Fred: the place where French meets Czech, history meets present, and Brioches meets Merveilleux. Conveniently located on Revoluční street, you can find the boutique belonging to globally credited Aux Merveilleux de Fred; famous for their Merveilleux, a pastry originating from the north of France and Belgium. Besides these delightful treats, Aux Merveilleux de Fred also offers brioches and waffles, all handmade on the spot. Open every day from 8:00 during the week and 9:00 during the weekends, until 19:00 in the evening, there is no excuse not to indulge in some French delicacies. The concept started almost 30 years ago when pastry chef Frédéric Vaucamps revisited the traditional recipe of the Merveilleux, Prague’s CEO Romain explains. “Initially the Merveilleux was quite heavy, but now it’s a new cake with meringue and whipped cream making it unique.” After the first opening in France, the concept flourished becoming a global business, eventually opening its doors in Prague. Prague was always a familiar name for Aux Merveilleux de Fred, as you can find beautiful chandeliers from the Czech company Preciosa in every boutique. “All chandeliers come from the Czech Republic; because of that, we wanted to do something special. If you haven’t been here yet, you’re missing out, as the vibrant Cafe Nebusice serves up authentic flavours of Indian cuisine, with a modern twist. It puts a modern spin on the traditional Indian restaurant with a cool and casual space with fun vibes, great food, go-to cocktails, great coffee, and cakes. The owners Nishant and Alana are both foodies and come from culinary scenes. Nishant worked in hospitality in India and Alana comes from a family with an 85-year background in the restaurant industry. They stumbled upon this restaurant after Covid and made it their mission to liven the place up. They are still running it as a pop-up and hope to finalize the name in the coming months. They were so tired of the stereotypical Indian restaurants in Prague with the same design and styles. “We wanted something new, an Indian restaurant does not always have to have a traditional Indian setting,” says Alana to Prague Morning. “We want to build a community and have a contemporary perspective on Indian cuisine. We organize fashion pop-up events and lots of other fun get-togethers. The food and atmosphere are homely and we bring to you Mom’s style of cooking in...

Are you looking for some new places to eat? Here is a list of newly opened businesses in Prague! Mr. G’s Asian Riccardo Lucque, founder of La Collezione, recently launched a new project – Mr. G’s Asian. As the name suggests, the kitchen here is headed by “Mr. G”, or Greg, and unlike other projects from the group, the restaurant is based on Asian cuisine. Greg originally cooked for Aromi for two years. Riccardo Lucque was so impressed with his art that he decided to invest in Greg’s ideas and open a completely new concept. They have built the menu of the new venture around seafood and meat, and the individual dishes are perfect for sharing. Have the oysters for starters and for the main course try the seabream with chili jam, crispy garlic, mint and coriander or the pork belly with green mung beans drizzled with peanut dressing. Finish the meal with a glass of Italian Pinot Grigio or Sauvignon. Can’t leave the restaurant without a sweet spot? They’ll serve you coconut tapioca with your choice of seasonal fruit. Korean cuisine is not well known in the Czech Republic, but it deserves to be explored. With three locations around Prague, Bab Ryze offers a great cross-section of Korean dishes that are worth trying. Bab Ryze Restaurant is totally authentic, staffed by Koreans who clearly have a positive relationship with food. Everything I tried was very tasty, and without compromising Czech flavors. I placed my order through Dáme jídlo and the courier arrived as planned. The food was packaged well, nothing leaked, and the trick with the portions wrapped in foil ensured that the dishes were really hot. But let’s get back to Korean gastronomy itself. You’ll find influences from other Asian countries, so there’s no shortage of fried dumplings for example on the appetizer menu. The Gun-mandu dumplings stuffed with mushrooms and leeks were pleasantly crispy, very well seasoned, and accompanied by a dipping sauce (6 pieces for 119 CZK). I wanted to taste as many dishes as possible, so I ordered 3 dishes from the main menu. In Korea, rice bowls topped with various vegetables, meat, and egg yolk are very popular. I opted for a slightly unconventional version without meat. Kimchi Al-bab (189 CZK) is a rice...
Prague’s gastronomic scene is once again a little more diverse thanks to the newly opened restaurant at The Mozart Prague Hotel. Meals from the kitchen of chef Marek Koucký impress with the originality of flavours, aesthetics of served dishes and above all the quality of local and exotic ingredients – all in the very heart of Prague. While cafés and bistros are springing up like mushrooms in Prague, nice restaurants offering tasty food are stagnating or even shutting down. Especially in the city centre, it is becoming increasingly difficult to find a place that meets the most demanding requirements for taste, originality and a pleasant environment without crowds passing by the table. Now you don’t have to look any further – everything you and your taste buds crave is offered by the Mozart Prague restaurant. Its kitchen is led by experienced chef Marek Koucký, who has spent the past fifteen years gaining experience in London, Mexico City and luxury resorts in the Maldives. This, of course, has also influenced his original cooking style. Jerusalem artichoke soup, roasted chestnuts, shimeji mushrooms, coffee foam For the autumn season, Marek has created a new menu that will delight both lovers of classics (veal...
Stanislav Virdzek has a lot on his mind. He is the co-owner of La Donuteria in Spalena street. In addition, he and his business partner Lukas are also development managers in the Czech Republic and overseeing the growth and expansion in the country of the brand, which is one of the fastest-growing in the world and already has over 7 locations just in the country. Nonetheless, he still comes in almost every morning at 5 am to make the donuts. “You know, with the high standards that we have for ourselves and our product, we really take this seriously,” he says. Despite the hard work involved both in running the shop and in overseeing expansion to other locations – the newest branch opened a couple of months ago in Hradec Králové – he still enjoys the work. “It is really difficult sometimes, but what makes it rewarding is that people are coming back and are happy. The feeling and look on people’s faces is the best part,” he says to Prague Morning. Even famous Praguers can’t resist the delicious pull of La Donuteria. Pavel Hoftych, the famous football player and coach, comes with his family. Stanislav says that he comes...

With three locations across Prague and another in Brno, American-style Waf-Waf restaurants are giving locals a chance to experiment with sweet and savoury breakfasts and lunches, offering a wide range of waffles, pancakes and crêpes. Speaking to Prague Morning, part-owner Jonáš Basel said the “menu is full of special products that you can’t find anywhere else”. “Restaurants in Prague only offer these products for dessert,” he said, “something you have after your main meal. We wanted to change that.” The do-it-yourself menu on offer at Waf-Waf restaurants allows customers to pick and choose from “20 or 30 ingredients that they can mix themselves”. Waf-Waf also have set menus for breakfast and lunch, including savoury options like their signature Wafchick chicken strip waffle sandwich, which Basel says has become “more and more popular”. “I think we have really good savoury pancakes and waffles, so I’m not surprised people like them. They’re most popular on weekends for breakfast, but around 65 per cent of people still go for sweet alternatives,” he said. Asked to pick a favourite item on the Waf-Waf menu, Basel said he “love[s] Waftella”. “I think it’s our best product. Sweet pancakes with Nutella, strawberries, raspberries, oreo and mascarpone.”...
Benjamin restaurant in Vršovice pleasantly surprises visitors not only with quality products and a minimalistic menu, but also with the presence of only two employees: chefs. Benjamin is located at Norská 14 in Vršovice. It is owned by successful chef and restaurateur Jakub Červenka, who also runs Café Buddha and Pru 58, where you can sample high-quality Asian street food. Červenka worked in a Michelin-starred restaurant in England, where he gained valuable experience. The layout of the restaurant is very unusual and does not look like other restaurants in Prague. Everything in the restaurant is imbued with minimalism, from a single table to a limited 8-course tasting menu. Minimalism does not end there. The restaurant employs only two people: two chefs, Jakub Červenka and Claudio Sejkati, an Italian chef. The restaurant does not have waiters, or sommeliers, that we are used to seeing in restaurants. There are only two people who communicate directly with customers and make the atmosphere special. The dishes are brought to the table by the chefs, who also present the dishes and pour wine for the guests during the wine pairing. The dishes themselves are also quite surprising and innovative. Although Červenka and Sejkati use more...
