Food can transcend us on different culinary excursions to exotic places, such as Thailand, but you don’t even need to go all the way to Thailand to taste good authentic Thai cuisine. You can go to one of the many Thai restaurants in Prague. But which one should you go with if you want to sample authentic cuisine from this region? The question is how can you be sure to know that the restaurant provides authentic Thai cuisine? It is simply to look for the Thai SELECT logo. With three types of Thai SELECT certification—Signature, Classic and Casual (more details at www.thaiselect.com), you would experience quality in food and services, upholding Thai methods of coking and absolutely including Thai ingredients. Extra points are given for the restaurant’s friendliness and atmosphere. Look for Thai SELECT Logo with awarded Thai restaurants where people would simply meet authentic Thai flavors as well as the highest standards maintained. The award has been presented to Thai restaurants worldwide. Currently, in Prague, there are six restaurants with “Thai SELECT” award. Noi Erawan Lemon Leaf Zebra Ratanakosin Thai Station

Although traditional Czech cuisine is perceived as one of the heaviest one in Europe, while visiting Prague you can easily find some healthy food as well! 1) Jiná Krajina A restaurant that mainly serves vegetarian dishes made with fresh ingredients, some of them grown in their own greenhouse. Their lunch menu usually contains a vegetarian option and the prices here are more affordable than in the city centre. Kodaňská 5, Vršovice +420 271 742 541 http://kodanska.jinakrajina.cz 2) Mezi Srnky The cafe’s name roughly translates as ‘Among the Deers’ – a play on words dreamt up by the owners, who like to experiment with natural decorations. A trendy hangout with communal seating to promote interaction. The staff have good taste in music, speak good English, and serve excellent coffee and brunches. Sázavská 19, Vinohrady +420 732 238 833 3) Cobra Bar Only the paint on the walls offers a sense of this hip place’s past life as a dodgy rave bar. Back then, there was no Asian-inspired lunch menu, no filling vegetarian soups or DJ lounge in the evenings. Fortunately, a group of friends got fed up with having to always make the trek downtown to enjoy this and opened...

NEBU-owner Sunil, businessman, foodie, and owner of various culinary establishments, has recently opened up a bistro serving modern Indian cuisine that’s freshly prepped and ready to serve. NEBU is extremely proud of their “charcoal” tandoor which Sunil insists makes all the difference in flavour to their naan breads and tikkas. The menu boasts dishes such as Indian tacos with masala beef, paneer tikka wraps, chicken samosas, and lentils with mushroom curry, to name a few. NEBU bistro is located at the new food market Backyard Kotva behind Prague department store in Náměstí Republiky. The bistro’s menu items look absolutely delightful, full of color, packed with culture, and fitting for the pre-summer season. Prague Morning recommends that you try out the establishment’s goodies for yourself, as we’ve had the chance to indulge in their menu as well. NEBU bistro also serves refreshing and complimentary beverages, such as their Mango lassi – perfect to fight off the heat and their signature cocktail Mango Chili martini topped with prosecco. A bit of the background story behind this culinary name – Sunil moved to a house in Nebušice, which is where ‘NEBU’ comes from, and decided to open his own restaurants after missing the...

Quality seafood is now even more affordable in Prague. The new e-shop Boxxi.cz brings a varied selection of fish, mainly from Iceland. Moreover, customers can choose to buy a complimentary wine from domestic and foreign wineries, to complete the experience. Marek Jirovec, Boxxi’s founder, used to be in charge of his family’s exports for their industrial automation company, this led him to meeting people in an Icelandic company, who in turn gave him the idea of importing fish from Iceland. He decided to take advantage of the opportunity immediately, detecting a niche product for the Czech market. “We focus on offering high-quality products. We try to increase awareness about fish products and want to teach customers how they can distinguish good-quality fish from bad ones. We want our customers to know that frozen fish does not necessarily mean it is of lower quality. This is a myth,” says Jirovec. Fish is a rich source of nutrients and healthy fats. On top of that, Icelandic fish is characterized by a very low content of heavy metals. It’s this type of fish that experts recommend consuming. In addition to traditional species such as cod, haddock, arctic salmon, and tuna, Boxxi offers less...
New and upcoming start-up company FREŠ offers an online order-and-delivery platform for groceries. FREŠ started its operations in April, and what gives them a competitive edge is that they promise to deliver customers’ goods within 15 minutes – that’s a quick-serve. Additionally, the company distinguishes itself by offering these two very practical features, which will be hard to turn down: they don’t require a minimum order size, and all the high-quality goods they provide stay at supermarket prices, so there are no pricey extra charges for customers. Another great feature is that the delivery fee is at a fixed and measly 29 CZK, which is a steal compared to other delivery platforms’ prices. Couriers will bring heavy bags straight to your doorstep, and delivery is available in the whole of Prague 2, and in some parts of Prague 1,3,4, and 8. Customers can find products on FREŠ’ platform, just like the ones they’d find in supermarkets. Essentially, FREŠ has its own inventory of products, which they keep in their warehouse, also called ‘cloud stores’. All in all, FREŠ has found a way to stand out, and what they offer is exceptionally attractive – a very fast delivery of high-quality goods...

Prague Morning had the opportunity to interview the staff behind Caviar Club, a successful and local seafood distributor, who are now venturing into the fields of gastronomy. We had a chance to taste their delicious meals, made by their appointed chef, who had previously worked in a Michelin-star restaurant. Here is the full interview with the owner Marc Lucas of their intriguing and inspiring entrepreneurial and culinary journey. Tell us a little bit about Caviar Club, how did it get started? What brought it to life? “We started out with selling caviar in 2016, but then since our customers started asking us for other seafood options, we branched out.
