The bigger the city is, the more possibilities of any kind it offers. What is most wonderful about it is that you have so many choices, but no one would want to miss the unique bakery on Klapkova street, Prague 8-Kobylisy. This place that’s just a few square meters is never empty, and people know why the best: the real homemade cookies made following typical Czech recipes let Czechs (and Slovaks) return to their sweet childhood with their skilled grandmas. Every day, they have more than a dozen cookies in limited numbers. So, the golden rule is: don’t come too late! If you come after 16:00, there might be nothing left for you. The ideal time to come is between 12:00 and 14:00. Some sorts of cookies are delivered around noon, for example, the moravský koláč (Moravian cookie). Round and heavy, this sourdough cookie with cottage cheese is number one. It is very easy to be addicted to this place. Could “Hot Beer” Replace Mulled Wine This Winter?

Staropramen, the second-biggest brewery in the Czech Republic, will test the sale of a hot beer in winter, according to iRozhlas.cz. “It could replace mulled wine”, said the director of the brewery Zdenek Havlena. The beer is produced in the Pardubice brewery, which the company bought a year ago. According to Havlena, the range of beers in pubs have decreased due to coronavirus. This special hot beer aims to rectify some of this loss. “We want to test the product at selected Christmas markets. It is an alternative drink that can complement the classic pre-Christmas svařák and punch,” he added. Due to the virus restrictions in the spring, restaurants reduced the range of beers in their operations, in some cases by as much as half. According to Havlena, specials beers will begin to return to the menu when beer consumption rises to pre-pandemic values. However, “the company does not plan to narrow its portfolio in the future, which includes import specials Hoegaarden or Leffe.” In the future, the company expects an increase in mainly non-alcoholic beers and the so-called beer mixes – i.e drinks based on radlers (shandy in English) with lemonade flavours. This Prague Pizzeria Has Been Named Among the Best 50 in Europe

England, France, and Spain are the countries with the largest number of pizzerias present on our special continental classification of 50 Top Pizza. Online guide to Italian restaurants, 50 Top Pizza, has unveiled its annual ranking of the best pizzerias outside of Italy. It includes only European establishments. The results are based on a survey following an anonymous judging visit and were announced online from Milan at a virtual event due to Covid-19 restrictions. Pizza Nuova in Prague, part of Ambiente group, ranks 40th. “Not only the oven but also the classic Neapolitan style of the pizzas is certified by the establishment’s membership to the Associazione Verace Pizza Napolitana. The pizza is the focal point around which a varied gastronomic offer rotates, from the pasta to the salads, to the ice-creams. All of them are icons of Italian cuisine,” says 50 Top Pizza. Londoners: A Different Sports Bar in the Center of Prague

Union flag hanging at the entrance right next to oriental symbols and ornaments – Londoners & Royal Indus create a fusion of traditional English and Indian culture and gastro experience. “The idea was to create a cozy space for all the expats and travelers to spend some nice time, enjoy a Guinness or watch a game, and mainly to feel welcomed,” the manager says. Dáme Jídlo Starts Deliver Groceries to Your Doorstep in Cooperation With Tesco Expres

Dáme Jídlo, the largest online food ordering service in the Czech Republic, has recently started a new service in cooperation with Tesco Expres, delivering groceries to your doorstep. We’ve all witnessed the pace at which grocery stores have turned into online supermarkets. But how does online food shopping with the Dáme Jídlo app actually work? The new service is available in Prague and customers can choose from ten Tesco Expres stores around the city. In the first phase, costumers can choose among approximately 600 food items. The price for the delivery is CZK 69 and the value of the order must exceed CZK 99. The delivery should take between 30 and 45 minutes. “In cooperation with Tesco Expres, we are now entering this market segment. We believe that very soon we will be able to deliver not only food but also other goods to our customers,” says Filip Fingl, CEO of Dáme Jídlo. Prague Food&Good: Hanzu

Kateřina and Tereza, food lovers who run the successful Instagram channel kamvpraze, will share with us at Prague Morning a weekly food tip. We’ll discover together new openings in the city, hidden cafes, bistros, or well-renowned restaurants. This is a pretty new Asian restaurant in Kaprova street, near the Oldtown square. Hanzu is a “sister” of very famous Asian restaurant Sasazu Restaurant, which you all surely already know. During our visit, we tried five dishes since the portions are meant to be shared with others so they aren’t that big. So what did we get? We began with beef tataki, continued with sasa crispy roll with tuna and salmon and for the mains, we got vegetarian dim sum Har Gow dumplings and curry with tofu and jasmine rice. At the end, we could not resist and tried also coconut tiramisu, which was truly DELICIOUS. On the other hand, we were not that impressed by the sauce of beef tataki – it was a bit too sour for us. U Skřetů – Restaurant With Authentic Slovak Halušky

If you are not planning to visit Slovakia during your traveling through Europe, you may at least taste something typical Slovak – Halušky s bryndzou. Restaurant “U Skřetů” can be easily missed when you walk by it, but once you locate the entrance (on the picture above it is the small door on the left) and brave the steep spiral staircase down to the cellar, you will have a chance to dine as if you were in Bratislava in Slovakia. Halušky are perfectly accompanied by beer and here again, you will have a choice of beer produced in Slovakia. And you will see that, even though Slovakia is better known for its wine, they can make a decent beer as well. One curiosity about this restaurant is also the fact that you can ask for the menu in Esperanto, and if you are lucky you can meet also some people speaking that language since the local Esperanto club is sometimes meeting right here. September 13: Beer & Burger Festival in Prague

The fifth annual Beer and Burger (‘Pivo a Burger’) Festival will return to Karlínské náměstí on Sunday, September 13 from 11 am. A total of 25 burger stands will be operating throughout the day, including many of the Czech favorite food trucks and burger joints. You can taste burgers from several Karlin restaurants but also some of Prague’s highest-rated burgers, like George Prime Burger, Mozaika, Naše maso, Želva Bar, Meat vandals and many others. You can find the full list of participants here. Serving up beer during the fest will be 23 craft brewers from Prague and across the Czech Republic, including favorites like Matuška, Clock, Raven, Albrecht, and many more, with over 100 beers on offer. The highlight of the day will be a homebrewing demonstration and workshop where you can learn how to make your own. We’ll discover together new openings in the city, hidden cafes, bistros, or well-renowned restaurants. Great news! A new (and bigger!) Mediterranean Paprika bistro was recently opened in Anděl. We believe that they have the best hummus in Prague and we are pretty sure, that many of you will agree. The restaurant opened quite recently, so we wanted to try it right away – we used the delivery app Wolt and had this veggie combo delivered home. We ordered combo for two, containing hummus (obviously), falafels, homemade pita bread, french fries, vegan shwarma, and several different sauces. The portion was huge – more than enough for two. And just as expected, it was absolutely delicious! We definitely recommend to try it – whether you are a vegan, a vegetarian, or a meat lover, you’ll just love it.
