The doors of Vinohradský Parlament in Korunní Street have reopened after extensive reconstruction, under the direction of the chef Jan Pípal and the general manager Robert Vaverka. “We’ve been in Prague for six years, always busy. Tonkin Kafé – A Cup of Vietnamese Coffee Please

“In general, I think Vietnamese cafes and Vietnamese coffee are quickly integrating into Czechs minds.” Coffee with condensed milk and ice? Excellent! Come and see for yourself at one of Prague’s Vietnamese cafes, opened in 2017 by two childhood friends from Vietnam, who met in the Czech Republic in a camp for Vietnamese children. “We liked coffee so much that we went for it,” says one of the business owners. Tonkin (Dong Kinh) means “Eastern Capital”, which was one of the administrative territories of French Indochina and included the northern part of Vietnam and part of Laos. The intention of the owners, who come from the north of Vietnam, is not just to sell coffee, but to show customers what this part of the country is all about. The café also works as a shop and bistro. You can buy organic food, ingredients for making Vietnamese dishes or products from local businesses and farmers. Good Quality at an Affordable Price: Restaurant in the Czech Center in New York is Awarded by Michelin

This year, the restaurant in the Czech Center building, in New York, has received the Bib Gourmand Award from the Michelin Gastronomic Guide. The Bohemian Spirit restaurant, which offers Czech specialties such as svíčková, duck with cabbage and bramboračka (potato soup) in the American city, is among more than a hundred businesses where Michelin inspectors say people eat well without spending excessive sums. The list of restaurants that this year’s Michelin Guide in New York attributed to the Bib Gourmand symbol—which stands for good quality at an affordable price—was published by the publishers before declassifying the overall rating. The guide will be released next week and will focus on which businesses will receive Michelin stars. Currently, there are 55 restaurants with one Michelin star in New York, 14 restaurants with two stars and five restaurants with the highest possible three-star rating.
