Manifesto Market Launches Pumpkin Season with New Menu

Starting October 14th, Manifesto Market will kick off its Pumpkin Season, offering a range of pumpkin-themed food and drinks from its vendors. The limited-time menu will feature both sweet and savory dishes, all centered around autumn’s favorite ingredient—pumpkin. Here’s what visitors can expect: Soot Bar will serve a Pumpkin Spice Latte and a hot pumpkin cocktail made with Tullamore Dew Honey and chai foam. Bakery60 will offer pumpkin cupcakes, a quick dessert option. Holy Pasta will have pumpkin soup, smooth and hearty. When it comes to responding positively to gluttony, it doesn’t matter what anyone says: (almost) everyone loves fried desserts. That’s why we’re sharing the ranking from the Taste Atlas platform. In the ranking of the well-known “Taste Atlas” platform, there are two Czech desserts that stand out in the world’s top 20. Is your mouth watering? So let’s find out what they are. Sharing the 7th spot with several other countries, the Czech Republic’s fluffy doughnuts (koblihy), are traditionally filled with various types of jam. US Fast-Food Wendy’s to Open First Branch in Prague

US fast-food giant Wendy’s announced on Tuesday its ambitious plans to open hundreds of restaurants across Europe in the next decade. The expansion will begin in the Czech Republic and include Spain, Portugal, France, the Republic of Ireland, Northern Ireland, Romania, and Poland. Currently, Wendy’s operates only in the UK outside the United States, starting from 2021. Michael Clarke, Wendy’s Managing Director for Europe, described the Czech Republic as an ideal base for the chain’s European expansion. He cited the strong domestic market, geographical location, and the country’s fast-food tradition as key factors. This is why the Czech Republic is part of the first wave of the expansion. “We were encouraged by the positive response to a recent event at the US Embassy in Prague, where we received initial franchise applications,” Clarke said. “We welcome more applicants who want to partner with us and operate Wendy’s restaurants in the Czech Republic.” Wendy’s plans to operate up to 50 restaurants in Britain by the end of the year, with a long-term goal of 400. Frosts Slash Czech Fruit Harvest by 77%, Apples Hit Hardest

The fruit harvest in the Czech Republic is expected to plummet by 77 percent this year compared to the five-year average, which may threaten many farmers’ livelihood, Martin Ludvík, chairman of the Fruit Growers’ Union told iRozhlas. Spring frosts have caused one of the worst crop damages in the last century, with the apple harvest particularly devastated. “In Bohemia, 90 percent of the apple production is destroyed,” added Ludvík. Traditionally, spring frosts primarily affect more sensitive fruit species like apricots, peaches, plums, and cherries. However, this year saw a slight decrease in damage to apricots and peaches, as these fruits are predominantly grown in southern Moravia, which experienced less frost damage. The unprecedented severity of the frosts has led to a dramatic reduction in the apple crop, with expectations of only about a fifth of the usual yield. The reduced harvest is likely to lead to a significant rise in the price of Czech fruit, particularly apples, which have a long selling period from autumn to the following summer.
