Signal Festival has prepared 3 installations that will liven up the public space and Hauch Gallery in Karlín not only during this year’s festival days but also before and after. The installation by Czech artist Markéta Jáchimová was lit on September 8th as part of the festival Praha Září in the middle of the Industrial Palace vestibule. The neon installation celebrating the 125th anniversary of Pražská tržnice by Michal Škapa was revealed last weekend. This year’s novelty includes a special interactive exhibition for children called Signal Playground: Biosy by the Slovak visual artist Boris Vitázek, which takes place in Hauch Gallery, Karlín. It is going to be launched together with the festival on Thursday, October 15th, and will continue up until October 31st. Signal Festival has joined the event called Praha Září. Well, good news: there’s a place for wine lovers where they can experience their favorite wine from the wine’s perspective. At the Pod Hradem winery in Klentnice, South Moravia, guests at the vineyard can stay in giant appointed wine barrels. A welcoming gift awaits you in the shape of a bottle of excellent Moravian wine and a bite to eat to take with you. On the outside, each barrel is made of simple pinewood, but on the inside, each contains an elegant bedroom. Each barrel features high-end amenities like a walk-in shower, a skylight so you can gaze at the stars, Wi-Fi, while the bathroom with toilet is located just a few steps from the barrel. Signal Festival in Holešovice for the first time. The festival of digital and creative culture will take place from Thursday, October 15th to Sunday, October 18th. The eighth year of Signal Festival will present 15 artistic installations to its visitors. As a novelty, a new festival route around Holešovice will add the popular routes through Karlín and the historical recesses of The Old Town. The umbrella theme of the festival is the hot issue of Plan B. The organizers, together with the visual artists, want to reflect on what they can do for Planet Earth and how to behave sustainably. Simultaneously, many artworks react to this year’s pandemic situation. This year will present some of the most outstanding Czech artists, such as Milena Dopitová, Jiří Černický or the designer duo Vrtiška & Žák, as well as renowned foreign studios. The design show marked by a spirit of sustainability is taking place until September 6th, with 77 designers from the Czech Republic and abroad “going green” across two floors of a historic building in Naměsti Republiky. Visitors will experience a variety of design types, including painting, clothing, jewelry, wooden products, glass and paper products, and traditional crafts, along with innovative new design solutions. Projects this year include unique woodwork designs from Eva Pechova, Evista Design, and the Woodcock restoration studio, and production of special protective clothing against knife attack made from 100% degradable materials, named Time for Protection. In addition to the show itself, visitors can enjoy delicious refreshments at Elbi Coffee and a rich accompanying program of design workshops and lectures.
