Aisa International is an EU-based company in the Czech Republic that is relatively unique in the expatriate advice market. Aisa International provides investment advice through its discretionary management licenses and can act as a Securities Trader throughout the EU via passporting. All directors and owners of Aisa International have passed EU Security Traders exams, required for those that provide direct European investment advice. “We realised that psychology played a huge part in affecting outcomes, and bias was unavoidable within one group working to a common goal,” said Chris Lean, Investment Director, Aisa International. “Client psychology was entirely risk averse, feeling greater pain even where gains had previously outweighed losses.” Based on this philosophy, Aisa International built its plan using five key principles: Attitude to risk could not be a number in a chart, but a definition that a client could buy into. The key measurement was capacity for loss and risk aversion rather than gains. Portfolios had to be linked to measurements of risk and volatility, rather than targeting returns in short time periods. Portfolios have to be biased in content toward the geographic location of the client. Due diligence meant that active managers it utilised had to meet certain...
The real wages of the people in the Czech Republic are set to drop by at least 8.3% by the end of 2022 as blistering inflation continues to eat into the income of the citizens. The recent figures for October showed a 15.1% rise of prices year-on-year, far above the average of 10.6% for the Euro Area and 11.5% for the European Union. The few European countries that managed to reach figures above these records are Poland, Hungary and the Baltic countries that had the worse inflation records for ten months of 2022. Prices in the Czech Republic have slowed down for the first time in two years as the government has taken some actions to support households amid high and rising energy prices. A slowdown of inflation came primarily in the form of energy and food prices as core inflation continues to rise by 1.2% month-on-moth, beating the forecasts of analysts. Prices are expected to continue to slow down in November and December amid government measures to stabilise energy prices, commented Martin Marsovsky, chief manager of Finmex Academy. On the other hand, wages for most of the sectors are rising too slowly to catch up with inflation. So, real wages...
In the first quarter of 2023, the Prague Transport Company will launch a test program for the city’s first-ever hydrogen-powered bus. The pilot project will last for two years. The authorities have already signed an agreement with the Czech manufacturer Škoda Transportation to lease its latest hydrogen bus Škoda H’CITY, which was presented on Tuesday, 22 November. Under this project, the company will deploy the bus on line 170, connecting Jižní město and Barrandov, in the second half of 2022 for a period of 2 years. In a press release, the Mayor of Prague Zdeněk Hřib praised the trial, noting that it is an important step in ensuring sustainable urban mobility. What is more, he revealed that about 50% of the capital’s population currently relies on public transport to move around the city. The hydrobus has a range of about 350 kilometres. This is three times as much as the electric bus, which needs several refuellings during the working day. In addition, it takes 10 minutes to refuel with hydrogen, whereas it takes several hours for an electric bus to fully charge its battery. Although the hydrogen-powered bus will be emission-free and sustainable, its operations will be costly. On its website, the...

Bonobo has long been one of the most successful producers on the electronic scene, releasing a number of albums under the renowned Ninja Tune label, topping the charts worldwide and earning three Grammy nominations. He returns to Prague after four years with a concert at the Forum Karlín on November 26. This time he brings his current recording Fragments, the most emotional album Simon Green aka Bonobo has ever composed. It’s also one of Bonobo’s most collaborative projects, with memorable appearances coming from Jamila Woods, Joji, and Jordan Rakei, to name a few. Though there’s no drastic change to the Bonobo blueprint, it’s unlikely that you’ll find a track in which Green doesn’t sound equally masterful and laid-back in his craft, delivering his most soulful and slick efforts to date. Fluttering strings, orchestral arrangements and choir chants are woven atop infectious beats and trip-hop rhythms, sounding akin to the work of Caribou and Four Tet on tracks like ‘Otomo’ and ‘Age of Phase’. That being said, Green certainly is in a league of his own, delivering a rich, majestic sound suited for both late-night festival slots as well as historic big-band halls. This year’s Christmas tree for Prague has been felled and preparations are underway for its transport to the Czech capital. The 25-metre tall spruce tree will grace Prague’s Old Town Square and will be officially lit on November 26th. The spruce tree is 58 years old and will leave the town of Kytlice for Prague on Sunday afternoon. “For safety reasons, the tree had to be tied to a crane rope at a height of about two-thirds and only then can the actual felling begin. Subsequently, the branches at the bottom of the trunk must be trimmed and the trunk machined to fit into the two-metre deep anchor shaft on Old Town Square,” described Tomáš Jílek, chairman of the board of directors of the company Technologie hlavního města Prahy (THMP). “The Christmas tree must not only be beautiful and healthy but also accessible for heavy equipment,” explained Hana Tietze, spokeswoman for Taiko, the company that organises Prague’s Christmas markets. On Sunday afternoon, the massive tree will be transported by truck to a logistics facility near Mělník. “The tree will arrive at Old Town Square in the early morning hours of Tuesday, 22 November. The transport will take place at night...

If you haven’t been here yet, you’re missing out, as the vibrant Cafe Nebusice serves up authentic flavours of Indian cuisine, with a modern twist. It puts a modern spin on the traditional Indian restaurant with a cool and casual space with fun vibes, great food, go-to cocktails, great coffee, and cakes. The owners Nishant and Alana are both foodies and come from culinary scenes. Nishant worked in hospitality in India and Alana comes from a family with an 85-year background in the restaurant industry. They stumbled upon this restaurant after Covid and made it their mission to liven the place up. They are still running it as a pop-up and hope to finalize the name in the coming months. They were so tired of the stereotypical Indian restaurants in Prague with the same design and styles. “We wanted something new, an Indian restaurant does not always have to have a traditional Indian setting,” says Alana to Prague Morning. “We want to build a community and have a contemporary perspective on Indian cuisine. We organize fashion pop-up events and lots of other fun get-togethers. The food and atmosphere are homely and we bring to you Mom’s style of cooking in...
