RunCzech is opening registrations for Prague Half Marathon, Volkswagen Prague Marathon with dm Family Run, Prague Relay and Birell Grand Prix. The first sporting event will be held on 2nd April, followed by the famous marathon on 8th May, relay racing on 22nd – 23rd June and the exciting night race on 10km and 5km on 3rd September. The first part of the American convoy, which will pass through the Czech Republic as part of the alliance exercise, will arrive in Rozvadov on Tuesday evening. In total, this week will see a total of six convoys carrying around 1,500 troops and 700 pieces of equipment pass through Czech territory. Despite rising inflation, and significant increases in fuel prices, Uber has leveled the bar with its direct Estonian competitor Bolt. Taking a taxi via Uber will be even more convenient than before. That’s because, from 2 pm on Monday, February 14, 2022, Uber has reduced the price for taxis booked through its app in the UberX Saver segment. The new price is a minimum of CZK 75 (it was CZK 85). For example, a ride via UberX Saver from Pařížská Street in the centre of Prague to Depot Hostivař will cost approximately CZK 198 (9.6 km for a 25 minutes ride) after this change. Former Prime Minister Andrej Babiš was re-elected as chairman of the ANO party despite defeat in October’s elections. On Saturday’s party congress, Babiš reaffirmed that ANO, affiliated to Renew Europe group, would remain a “catch-all” political party and spoke about his possible presidential candidacy. Babiš was the only candidate for the post of ANO chairman and received 76 of 95 votes. During his speech, he criticised the current five-party ruling coalition and media. “The entire carpet-bombing of our movement was carried out with the loud support and applause of many journalists,” Babiš said. “They talked about the end of democracy, about being dragged to East, about interfering in police investigations and other and other nonsense that never happened,” former PM added. Starting February 19, the isolation period for people who test positive for Covid-19 will be extended to seven days from the current five. No quarantine will be mandatory after a risky contact. According to Health Ministry spokesperson Ondřej Jakob, this is another step in the easing of coronavirus restrictions. “In our opinion, quarantines no longer make sense after a risky contact,” Jakob said. The Czech Republic is preparing to sign a Declaration on Ukraine’s European Prospect in support of the country’s EU accession. Czech Foreign Minister Jan Lipavský told this in an interview with Yevropeiska Pravda, a Ukrainian media outlet. “We are currently negotiating on the issue (of signing a declaration, – ed.) with Ukraine. And I am very optimistic about the results of these talks,” Lipavský said.
