Concerns regarding coronavirus have been declining slightly, according to a November survey by the Ipsos agency, however, more than half of people still see the virus as a threat to employment and fear that it will affect their financial situation for a long time. Most respondents are concerned about price increases. Currently, 66 percent of the population reported concerns about coronavirus, which is slightly lower than previous surveys. Only a tenth of the respondents said that they did not feel threatened by the coronavirus in the long run. “The feeling of personal danger is higher among people who know someone who has suffered from COVID-19 personally,” said Jakub Malý, director of the Ipsos agency. Czech Ministry of Health has ordered compulsory 10-day quarantine for travelers coming from the United Kingdom. Restriction applies from today at 3.30 pm. The quarantine can be terminated no earlier than the fifth day with a negative PCR test. The measure was taken over concerns about a new, infectious strain of the coronavirus. There will be no New Year’s light show with fireworks in 2020 in Prague, Mayor Zdeněk Hřib announced in August. The Czech Republic reported the highest daily number of new COVID-19 cases since November 11 on Friday after the number of new positive tests rose to 8,800, which is about 2,600 more than the previous Friday. The share of infection cases in relation to the number of tests performed reached 27.7 percent, the highest since November 14. Czech PES (Protiepidemický Systém) score rises to 76, which corresponds to the fifth level. The health authorities are now debating the possibility of further tightening restrictions. The reproduction number R rises from about 1.22 to 1.27, according to the Institute for Health Information and Statistics. The coronavirus reproduction rate indicates the average number of people one sick person can infect. Deputy Minister for Transport Adam Scheinherr (Praha sobě) confirmed that the annual pass for Prague City Transport will not raise in the near future. “However, Prague city cannot avoid an increase in price. We don’t know when this will happen,” he said at yesterday’s meeting of the City Council.
