Lime announced today that it has partially resumed its operations in Prague. Out of the 1,500 scooters that normally operate in the Czech capital, 200 have so far been re-deployed in the streets, said Ondřej Široký, the company’s operations manager. Lime will also offer free 30-minute scooter rides for public-health workers and law enforcement officers, who can receive access simply by signing up. “Micro mobility plays a critical role in moving people seamlessly through cities, and as an individual form of transportation, scooters can help fill an integral transportation gap at this important time,” Lime wrote in a statement. Three weeks ago, a Russian intelligence operative flew to Prague. He was driven directly from Prague airport by a Russian diplomatic car to the Russian Embassy in Prague, carrying a suitcase with „ricin“ poison, according to Czech intelligence sources. The news is reported by Czech newspaper Respekt. The politicians under protection are the Mayor of Prague Zdeněk Hřib and the Prague 6 Mayo Ondřej Kolář. Both of them have been confronting the Kremlin authorities in recent months. The Mayor of Prague Hřib approved the renaming of a square where the Russian Embassy is located after slain Russian opposition politician Boris Nemtsov. For the first time in its 75-year history, the Prague Spring International Music Festival finds itself in a situation where it will be unable to present its concert program as planned. “It is difficult to foresee which restrictive measures will still be in place at the time this year’s Prague Spring is due to start and, for understandable reasons, we cannot expect a mandatory standpoint from the relevant bodies of the state administration. The Prague Spring has therefore decided to seek an alternative so that music may continue to bring hope to its listeners during this troubling situation,” says festival director Roman Bělor. The festival is putting together approximately ten concerts for live broadcast, available free of charge via the Prague Spring website. Selected concerts will also be included in the schedules of Czech Television, the festival’s General Media Partner, and of Czech Radio, which has accompanied the festival since it was founded in 1946. Global leaders are launching an initiative with the World Health Organization (WHO) to accelerate the development of coronavirus drugs, tests, and vaccines and ensure equal access to all countries. “I represented the Czech Republic at a videoconference with prime ministers and presidents from Australia, New Zealand, Israel, Austria, Denmark, Norway, and Greece,” said PM Andrej Babis. Seven percent of Czechs who were active in terms of work before the coronavirus pandemic have lost their jobs, according to the latest survey “Life during a pandemic” conducted by PAQ Research and IDEA AntiCovid initiative. Job losses have now occurred for 24 percent of the self-employed individuals and 3 percent of employees. More than a third of employees said that their employment contract or work activities were adjusted for reduced hours (11 percent), reduced wages (8 percent) and benefits (8 percent). Others have been forced to take care of their children (6 percent), experienced forced leave (9 percent), and had a loss of income from an employment contract (4 percent). The decline in the number of hours worked has stabilized compared to the end of March. About 30 to 35 percent of people working before the epidemic claims they now work up to 20 hours a week, and about 50 to 55 percent have maintained their full-time working hours of 40 hours a week or more. Škoda Auto has announced it will be resuming production at its Czech plants on 27 April while maintaining protective measures to prevent employees from becoming infected by the coronavirus.
