Traffic Restrictions on Evropská Street, Prague Airport Suggests Alternative Routes

From Wednesday morning, Prague is expecting major traffic restrictions on Evropská street. The reason is the construction of a new tram line to Dědína. One lane will be closed approximately 600 meters from the intersection with Vlastina Street to the intersection with Za Vokovická Street. At the same time, tram traffic will be interrupted between Divoká Šárka and the Vozovna Vokovice stop. The first lane to be closed until 15 April will be the one in the direction from the centre. The works on Evropská are divided into four stages and will last until October. In the next steps, the restrictions for car traffic will be reduced to the section from Vlastina Street to Libocka Street. From the end of May to the end of June, drivers will have to cope with the 1+1 regime again. Tram traffic should not be significantly restricted after 15 April. Smartwings, Finnair, easyJet, Emirates – The Best 2022 Airlines at Prague Airport

Following the example of other international airports, for the second time in a row, Prague Airport has recognised the best airlines of the past year. The title of the Fastest Growing Airline was awarded to the domestic airline of Smartwings. The Best Performing Airline in terms of traffic was Finnair. The title of Top Sustainable Airline complemented the two former categories, being won by easyJet. Emirates also received an award for the Best Airline Marketing Campaign with Prague Airport. Category Criteria The award recognising the greatest year-on-year increase in passenger numbers, “Fastest Growing Airline at Prague Airport 2022”, was presented by Prague Airport to the air carrier that achieved the highest year-on-year increase in the total number of transported passengers compared to the previous calendar year (2021), and thus contributed the most to the resumption and the development of air connections at Václav Havel Airport Prague. The Controversy Surrounding the Removal of Prague’s Old Steel Bridge

A plan from Czech railways to replace the emblematic landmark with a modern structure is facing an impassioned backlash. Last November, the Railway Administration (Správa železnic) announced that the old steel bridge going from Výton to Smíchov will be discarded. Designed by František Prášil, a Czech engineer of the late Habsburg era, the bridge was built in 1901 and spans the Vltava river, carrying mainline trains between Prague and other European cities, including Munich. The plan is for it to be replaced by a new white bridge, which is planned to be wider and include one additional track, sparking controversy. The Guardian is writing about the demolition of the bridge and the opposition that has mobilized itself. Real Estate Prices in Prague Back to 2021 Values. But How Low Will They Go?

Recently, real estate prices in Prague have been falling. So much so that by the end of 2022 the average price of older apartments in Prague has returned to the same values as the end of 2021. This fall in prices is best characterized by a study by the European Housing Service (EHS), which shows that within Prague the average 65 sqm apartment has lost CZK 680,000 of value. At the start of 2022, an older apartment within Prague cost approximately CZK 123,000 per sqm. By Q4 this approximation has changed to CZK 112,500, practically the same as 2021 prices. A similar situation has also been unfolding in Brno, Ústí nad Labem, Karlovy Vary and Moravia-Silesia wherein prices decreased up to 9 percent. “It is already clear that the real estate market is on the decline. Prague Ranks Third Safest City in the World, New Report Shows

A report published by the U.K.-based insurance company William Russell ranked the “safest cities in the world,” according to people’s perceptions. On this list, which relied on perceived crime rates on the crowdsourced global database Numbeo, Asia and Europe dominated the rankings of “safest” cities.
