German Electronic Composers Kollektiv Turmstrasse to Play at Roxy

The Hamburg/Berlin duo, which has filled Roxy to the top each time they performed in Prague, is bringing a live performance this time. They will perform at Roxy on November 12. Kollektiv Turmstrasse is a project initiated by the musicians Nico Plagemann and Christian Hilscher from Luebeck, Germany. The duo’s musical style can be broadly labeled as minimal techno. It was in 1998 when the two boys hung out together and decided to form a collective, back in Hamburg, on the Turmstrasse street. Their first tracks were inspired by early Detroit-Techno and Acid House, which changed into dubby groove techno-like releases by Raummusik, Mosaik, and Basic Channel. They turned into the main activity and resulted with their first release in 2001 on electronic parliament. Today, they stand behind a spree of legendary tracks, EPs, and albums, which got them as far as Solomun’s Diynamic label, for example. Krymská Street Has a New (Really Cool!) Bar and Events Space

Papundekl Architects has turned a former car workshop in Prague into a bar and events space with a brutalist slant. Situated just south of Prague‘s scenic downtown district, Vršovice has transformed from blue-collar neighbourhood into a notable hipster area in recent years, and it’s a trend that has yet to see the end. Adding to the many bars and clubs that line the streets here is the newly opened K7.club with its street side bar. Designated as a community hub, and an aptly cool one at that, the venue occupies 133 sqm. ground floor space of an early 20th-century residential building and features an interior design by local architecture practice Papundekl. The venue, formerly a car repair shop, sees three distinct areas—an elongated bar, an elevated lounge and event space, and a private club space at the back. At the core, an open space for screening, restrooms, and the back end of the aforementioned bar can be found, all in an understated industrial style. Soaring Gas Prices: Pražská Plynárenská to Raise its Prices

From November 1, Pražská plynárenská will increase the price of its natural gas by an average of 24.6 percent. The company has justified the increase due to the unfavorable market situation. According to the company, “unfavorable and turbulent developments in the wholesale markets” are unparalleled in recent years, and the price of natural gas has multiplied in the last year. Despite the continuous rise in natural gas prices throughout the year, Pražská plynárenská had previously tried not to pass on the consequences of this situation to its customers. “However, this is unsustainable in the current situation in the long run,” said the company spokesman Miroslav Vránek. Prague 9 Reveals Plans for New Modern District

Prague 9 will soon have a modern city district that combines opportunities for living, working, and entertainment. On 19 October, the Mayor of Prague 9 Tomáš Portlík revealed this news, sharing that the city will acquire land from Howden ČKD Compressors to create a brand-new neighbourhood in Vysočany. As TheMayor.eu reports, The modern district will offer houses, offices, shops, and public buildings such as schools. More specifically, it will feature 3,500 apartments and numerous services on an area of approximately 10 hectares. In addition to this, the city will establish the Emil Kolben square in the heart of the district. The name of the square will allude to Prague 9’s industrial past and honour the late 19th and early 20th century industrialist, Emil Kolben. Velvet Revolution Will be Celebrated on Národní třída on November 17

The anniversary of the Velvet Revolution takes place on November 17, with street exhibitions, light installations and audiovisual projections gracing Národní třída. The organizers behind the celebration are planning a cultural program, with theater performances and debates, at the site of the police violence against students in 1989. In accordance with last year’s example, the event will also be transferred to an online environment.  The eighth year of the celebrations of freedom known as Korzo Národní will return to the public after pandemic safety measures. Given the changing situation around COVID-19, the organizers compiled the program so that visitors did not gather in large crowds for individual activities.  “This year is a promise for us to return to normal. People will be able to enjoy the program directly on Národní třída during November 17, just as they were used to in the past. Triumph of Czech Startups: Projects Tatum and Readmio Dominated SWCSummit

European finals of the global startup competition Startup World Cup were a part of Prague’s event Startup World Cup & Summit. This SWCSummit was entirely conquered by the Czech projects Tatum and Readmio. The first offers a platform that revolutionizes blockchain creation. The second project makes reading more attractive to children through a mobile application by complementing storytelling with sound effects in real-time. Startup Tatum won the main prize of the jury and the title of European champion with it. Readmio stole the hearts of the spectators and won the audience prize. Public Transport Fares Could Become More Expensive Due to Energy Costs Rising

According to the Association of Transport Companies, the cost of energy rising significantly by hundreds of millions next year, meaning that the increase in transport fares is possible. They also say that the operations of urban public transport are also at risk due to these higher energy prices.
