HalfPrice Opening its First Store in Prague

The new retail network HalfPrice from the Polish group CCC is entering the Czech Republic. It offers a wide range of products from well-known brands and the first store will open at the end of September at the Harfa Gallery. In May, CCC decided to open the new retail chain HalfPrice, which offers, among others, clothes, shoes, accessories, cosmetics, toys, and elements of home equipment and decoration. “The decision to open HaflPrice after another protracted lockdown was a jump into the deep water, for which we were well prepared. Since May 4, we have been visited by over half a million customers. During that time, we opened 13 stores all over Poland. Netflix ‘The Gray Man’ Now Shooting in Prague 7

The Gray Man, a $200 million Netflix blockbuster starring Chris Evans and Ryan Gosling will be shooting in the Czech capital through July 20. The action on The Gray Man is now taking place during daytime hours, between 9:30 and 19:00 in Prague 7, especially in the area of Dukelských hrdinů and surroundings. Filming previously took place on Prague’s Vítkov National Monument, and future scenes will be shot in the city center at locations including Jan Palach Square in front of the Rudolfinum, Pařížská, and Náměstí Republiky. Outdoor locations in Prague 1, 2, 3, 7, and 8 will all be utilized during the production of The Gray Man. The Gray Man is being directed by Anthony and Joe Russo, who previously made Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame. Prague to Hold a Benefit Concert In Support of Victims of South Moravian Tornado

A charity concert for tornado victims in South Moravia featuring top local acts will take place at Prague’s Wenceslas Square on Wednesday. Thunderstorms, hailstones the size of tennis balls and a tornado of over 200 kilometers per hour hit the Břeclav and Hodonín districts in South Moravia. Moravská Nová Ves, Hrušky, Mikulčice, Lužice and Hodonín were the spots that suffered the most. Some 1,200 houses were damaged and six lives were lost. The leading bands of the Czech music scene have also decided to help, performing on Wenceslas Square as part of the Together for Moravia concert on Wednesday, July 7 at 8 pm. According to the organizer, all proceeds from the concert will go to Via Foundation, an independent, Czech community and philanthropy development foundation that has raised more than CZK 204 million to date. Prague Launches Pilot Project to Remove Graffiti From City Buildings

Citizens can report vandalism via the “Bez Graffiti” mobile application. Tackling graffiti is a challenge for many cities around the world. By vandalising property and defiling public spaces, graffiti decreases the attractiveness of cities. Often, one can see hate speech sprayed onto walls, monuments, and properties. Unsurprisingly, this decreases the quality of life for citizens and gives rise to deeper issues. Now, the City of Prague has set its sight on fighting this problem with a pilot project to remove graffiti from city buildings. To successfully do so, it has entrusted the municipal company Technology of the Capital City of Prague (THMP) and released a new mobile application where citizens can report vandalism. “Graffiti in a public space is a long-standing problem, defiling public areas and destroying both public and private property. I am convinced that in addition to correcting vandalism, the project will also have an important preventive role. When sprayers see that their creations on surfaces covered with anti-graffiti paint disappear again, they will lose the motivation to continue,” explained Councillor Jan Chabr. Uber and Bolt Lack Drivers, Taxi Fares Are More Expensive

Have you tried getting a Uber or Bolt lately? Chances are you may have had a hard time with them. With the pandemic and lockdown slowly abating, restaurants have opened, and new regulations allow people to organize various social events. This also means that there’s an increase of people who need to be transported around the city. That benefits both traditional and alternative taxi services, such as Bolt or Uber. The coronavirus has, however, significantly rattled even this market, and the taxi services are plagued with a deficiency of drivers. Some left for another profession, and closed borders made moving from countries outside of the EU to work here much more complicated. People from third world countries that worked in the evenings are sorely missed by alternative taxi services. Customers thus noted longer waiting times and higher prices, which can even be twice or thrice as high as original costs. Berlin DJ and producer Oliver Koletzki will perform at EXPO Holesovice this Sunday, July 4. While he has been staying busy elevating the organic house movement throughout Europe, Oliver took a trip to Tulum, Mexico as the pandemic struck, finding himself in the studio to create his ninth full-length album since 2007, Made of Wood on Stil Vor Talent. Koletzki is known for his musical diversity, pushing the boundaries of genres and moods with each single.
