Prague Wants to Develop a New and Unified Concept For the City’s Markets

Prague City Tourism is working on a new plan for the city’s markets, aiming to provide a clear strategy to meet the city’s market needs. The initial phase will concentrate on locations in the historical center. The document seeks to address various issues related to Prague’s markets. It will identify suitable locations based on urban planning principles, emphasize design and visual style, and consider the types of markets available. This plan will be grounded in a thorough assessment of the current situation and research into market concepts from other cities like Vienna, Dresden, Krakow, and Bratislava. Adam Zábranský, Prague’s councillor for property, legislation, and transparency, noted, “Prague has long lacked a comprehensive market concept. In the first phase, we intend to focus on markets at Old Town Square, Wenceslas Square, Náměstí Republiky, and Havelské tržište. We will propose specific solutions for these areas based on the established principles, taking into account their unique characteristics. VIDEO: Unknown Drivers Spotted Driving Formula Race Cars on Prague Highway

Police in Prague are searching for two drivers of Formula 3000 and Formula GP2 racing cars who were seen driving on a county highway during the night of Sunday, September 3. Each of these racing cars weighs approximately 700 kilograms and boasts over 600 horsepower. A video of this illegal race has surfaced on social networks. “In connection with this incident, we urge witnesses who were traveling on the Prague ring road toward highway D5 around 00:30 on Sunday night to contact us at 158,” appealed Violeta Siřišťová, the Metropolitan Police spokesperson. It’s worth noting that in both 2019 and 2022, the same car was observed by eyewitnesses on the D4 highway between Dobříš and Příbram. On those occasions, with the assistance of the public, the police managed to identify the owner of the racing car, a 45-year-old Czech citizen. The man faced a fine ranging from 5,000 to 10,000 CZK and a potential suspension of his driving license for a period of 6 to 12 months. Ambiente Opens its First Fast Food in Prague: Burger Service

Ambiente Group has introduced its first fast-food venture in the heart of Prague – Burger Service, located at Revoluční 1. Under the supervision of chef Radek Peck, it will serve mainly burgers, fries, a few other side dishes, and either soft drinks or beer in a can. Meat from the Chester breed is supplied by Amaso (part of the same group), the buns are baked in-house and will be open all week from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. The menu at Burger Service is as straightforward as possible. The Classic Cheeseburger, Bacon Cheeseburger and Double Smash Burger are complemented by classic fries, coleslaw, and fried cheese. Chef Radek Peck highlights their burger preparation process, saying, “we wrap the burger in fresh buns so the flavor of the just-baked patty combines with the freshly cooked meat. Moreover, we have tested that after twenty minutes it tastes even better than if it is eaten right away” The packaging is also important. September 23: Heroes’ Day at Výstaviště Prague

Come and learn about the work of the integrated rescue services at the Exhibition Center. This year you can attend the 8th annual Heroes’ Day event! Demonstrations of heavy equipment, technical equipment, historic vehicles and other interesting things await you. On September 23, from 11:00 to 17:00, you can see equipment and vehicles from the HMP Medical Rescue Service, Pandur wheeled armor from the Czech Army, a rescue tank, a police helicopter and other unique items. ‘The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers’ Concert to Take Place in Prague

CRESTYL to Build 185 New Modern Apartments in Radlická by 2025

Prague’s Radlická district will welcome 185 modern apartments anticipated to be built by the end of 2025. Czech development group CRESTYL will begin the construction with contractor Metrostav for CZK 1.5 billion, and the project will include four separate buildings, each varying in height, while the inside of the building will include a community garden and amenities for families and children. The flats will be priced between CZK 4.8 million and CZK 19.3 million, including single-bedroom to four-bedroom layouts. Viktor Peška, CRESTYL’s sales director, said the project is “interesting” because of the timeline in which it is being built. The design behind Semerínka, the project’s name, comes from David Chmelar’s architectural studio and garden architect Petr Hodonicky, who designed the outdoor spaces. “It will be built all at once, so its residents will not be disturbed by any further construction phases,” Peška added. Babak Jalali’s American film Fremont wowed audiences at the Sundance Film Festival and the Karlovy Vary International Film Festival, where it took home the Crystal Globe for Best Director. Prague Morning spoke to Santiago Pérez. Santiago is one of the four owners of Malá Argenta, all of whom are from Argentina. “I’ve been in Prague for the past five years. I started the business three and a half years ago with three of my Argentinian friends. We were all tired of working our regular day jobs, so we decided to try something new,” says Santiago. Prague is Again Fighting the Presence of Advertising Rickshaws in the City Center

Stationed in front of Thai massage establishments, rickshaws are causing complications for both Prague’s residents and its visitors. Their positioning violates city regulations and mars the aesthetic appeal of the area. City officials, along with representatives from the Municipal Police, have recently reached a consensus on this matter. They are now seeking a lawful solution for their removal and intend to pursue a modification in legislation. On Monday, August 28, Prague Mayor Bohuslav Svoboda and Councillor for property, legislation and transparency Adam Zábranský convened with the Municipal Police representatives. Mayor Bohuslav Svoboda remarked, “The presence of rickshaws on the sidewalks is not only a stain on Prague’s reputation but also a disruption to everyday pedestrian traffic. Paris Becomes One of the Only European Cities to Ban E-Scooters

Paris will this week become one of the only cities in Europe with an outright ban on rented e-scooters — as operators plan to ramp up their e-bike fleets to replace them ahead of the 2024 Olympics. Despite previously expressing hopes for a last-minute reprieve, the three firms with e-scooter operating licenses in the French capital, Lime, Dott and Tier, all confirmed that they will have removed their scooters, or trottinettes, by the Sept. 1 deadline. They had a combined fleet of roughly 15,000 e-scooters in the city. A referendum held in April gave Parisians two choices regarding the rental scooters: for or against. Numerous urban areas have already imposed restrictions on e-scooters, primarily entailing controls on speed limits and penalties for improper parking. Nevertheless, some major cities, such as Prague, still permit riding without helmets on sidewalks and bustling thoroughfares. Karlín International Cuisine Festival Returns on September 3

Visitors can taste African, American, Asian or European specialties. The Festival of International Cuisine takes place at Karlínské náměstí. The Karlín International Cuisine Festival is a celebration of the many cultures and diversity represented across the world. Through live music, cultural displays, international food and drinks, a kids’ zone, and craft and merchandise vendors, visitors are able to explore a mosaic of different countries. “We have representatives of four continents. You can taste something from each continent, and of course, there are also different stands selling authentic products, spices, and drinks,” said Veronika Brabcová, market organizer. “We will introduce you to Peruvian cuisine, you will discover the charms of Armenia and its culture, and of course there will be Asian cuisine in its many forms”, added Brabcová. “The festival showcases the rich cultures and diverse communities that contribute to our vibrant city,” added Brabcová.
