Wizz Air has announced the opening of its seventh Italian base, at Venice Marco Polo airport. With 2 Airbus A321neo aircraft in one of Italy’s most important aviation markets, and with the launch of 4 new domestic services and 12 international destinations to 9 countries, Wizz Air continues to grow its Italian offer in order to provide passengers with a wide variety of destinations.  The establishment of Wizz Air’s newest base in Venice Marco Polo airport, which follows the opening of six bases (Milan Malpensa, Catania, Palermo, Bari, Naples, and Rome Fiumicino) of the airline in Italy within just one year, underpins Wizz Air’s commitment towards the country. Smartwings to Launch Flights to London’s Largest Airport

Air carrier Smartwings is adding a new destination to its autumn offering. As of September 30, the company will be offering scheduled flights from Prague to Heathrow, the UK’s biggest airport. Smartwings will initially offer four London-bound services a week and subsequently daily flights under the winter flight schedule. As of October 20, Smartwings will also resume direct flights from Prague to Dubai, UAE, with a daily service. Flights will depart from Prague to London on Thursday at 9:45, on Friday at 14:00, on Sunday at 18:50, and on Monday at 15:50. Flights will depart from London to Prague on Thursday at 12:05, on Friday at 16:00, on Sunday at 20:45, and on Monday at 17:45 local time. Smartwings offers one-way tickets for prices starting at 46 EUR. Ukrainian SkyUp Airlines Starts Flights to Prague from Kyiv

September 23, 2021, SkyUp Airlines (Ukraine) has operated the first flight to Prague from Kyiv. From now on there will be three flights per week: on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays.  Prague Airport Experiences 102% Increase in Passenger Traffic This Past August 

More than a year into the pandemic, activity at Prague Airport is now starting to pick up again, with nearly 700,000 passengers passing through the facility this August. This is a reported 102 percent increase from August of last year. Prague Airport also observed that more than 7,500 landings and takeoffs took place this August — 40 percent more than the previous year.  Besides the typical vacation locales of Greece, Italy, and Spain, other popular destinations included Hurghada, Marsa, Alam, and Antalya. Burgas, a city on Bulgaria’s Black Sea coast, was most popular among travelers, with 46,000 passengers headed there. From the statistics collected, many passengers from Prague also flew to Amsterdam and Rhodes.    Though the data supports predictions of increased travel, traffic is still far from where it was in 2019. “In August, our forecasts of strong outbound tourism were confirmed. There was a year-on-year increase of more than 100% in the number of passengers handled, but compared to August 2019, this is a 65% decrease,” said Jaroslav Filip, Director of Aviation Trade at Prague Airport. Recognition of Third-Country Vaccination Certificates: All You Need to Know

For a long time, Czech authorities didn’t accept vaccination certificates from outside the EU/EEA. This complicated the lives of expats living in the Czech Republic and also potential tourists from non-EU states who – despite being fully vaccinated – weren’t able to enter the country without restrictions. This has recently changed. However, the access isn’t a blanket one – there are some conditions. Fully vaccinated third-country citizens allowed entry At the end of August, The Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced that the Czech Republic was expanding the list of countries whose vaccination certificates would be accepted in the country. From Prague You Can Now Fly to 115 Different Destinations

Airlines continue resuming direct flights and further increasing frequencies to already served destinations from Prague. Passengers can pick flights to popular holiday destinations in Europe, enjoy a long weekend or plan a trip to the United Arab Emirates and Qatar, for example. Sleeper Trains Are Back on Track in Europe

In 2022, a new sleeper train will add to a network of planned routes that will link up cities across Europe, including Prague, Berlin and Amsterdam. It joins a growing number of companies reviving overnight rail travel across the continent, such as the French rail start-up with plans to connect Paris to destinations like Copenhagen, Rome and Porto by 2024. The French start-up, which goes by the name of Midnight Trains, is described as a “hotel on rails” and will feature a restaurant and bar onboard, as well as hotel-style private rooms. From its base in Paris, it hopes to travel to 12 European destinations from 2024 and make the journey an adventure in itself for passengers. The project is still in its early stages but Midnight Trains is just one of the many companies catering to a growing faction of travelers looking to swap air travel for slow and sustainable rail travel instead. France’s state-owned SNF rail company announced an ambitious plan back in 2017 to reignite its sleeper trains, and last month launched a night service from Paris to Côte d’Azur with tickets starting at €29 for the 12-hour journey. Prague Airport Prepares for Increase in Traffic After Restrictions Eased

Prague Airport said it was deploying more staff to prepare for an expected increase in traffic after the Czech government eased travel restrictions. “We are increasing our personnel capacity and reinforcing the technical equipment to speed up the entire check-in process on arrivals,” said Jiri Kraus, Vice Chairman of the board for Prague Airport in a statement on August 31, 2021. “Passengers can help accelerate the arrival checks too by reviewing the current conditions and preparing all documents in advance.” Travelers from outside the European Union who wish to visit Prague can now do so provided they are fully vaccinated against COVID-19, according to new rules set out by the Ministry of the Interior of the Czech Republic, as of August 23rd, 2021. However, the vaccines should be approved by the European Medicines Agency (EMA) or their own country’s relevant authority, and the travelers should come from countries that have recognized vaccine certificates. Czech Constitutional Court Rules in Favour of Kiwi.com in Dispute with Ryanair

A Czech court has ruled in favour of Czech ticket seller Kiwi.com against Ryanair in a lingering dispute over Kiwi’s practices for handling passenger data. Ryanair had threatened to reject boarding passes issued by Kiwi.com, but that was unjustified according to Constitutional Court judge Kateřina Šimáčková. Ryanair took Kiwi.com to court over its handling of passengers’ personal data, which Ryanair claimed prevented it from contacting passengers in case of flight changes. The Irish carrier wanted Kiwi.com to be compelled to share more passenger data. But the Constitutional Court has now overturned an earlier ruling by the Regional Court in Brno (and then upheld on appeal at the High Court in Olomouc) which had instructed Kiwi.com to adjust information according to Ryanair’s terms and conditions, and to share customers’ email and residence addresses as well as their payment details. The Constitutional Court ruled that the earlier judgement ran contrary to the freedom to conduct business.
