This day trip is part of the original Day Trips series – Discovering Czechia, launched by Jumages Travel. Czech Switzerland (also known as Bohemian Switzerland) is is a picturesque region in the north-western Czech Republic. It lies on the Czech side of the Elbe Sandstone Mountains on both sides of the Elbe River. It is one of Europe’s last large wildernesses – the most beautiful parts of this region, with its valuable flora and fauna, protected as a cross-border national park. The incredible Pravčická gate is the jewel of Bohemian Switzerland. 16 meters high with its 27 meters span – true gate to a world of romantic rivers, overwhelming rock towns, dreamy valleys and picturesque villages. It is the queen of this landscape, and no one can say to have been in Saxon-Bohemian Switzerland without having visited it. If the arch looks familiar, it’s because it was used for several key scenes in the movie The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe. Passing under the arch of the Pravčická gate along the paths and stairs you can climb to the observation platforms, from where the landscapes of the mountain range open up with stunning beauty. The...
This Saturday, February 19, you can take part in a day trip launched by Jumages Travel. It’s hard to believe, but millions of years ago a warm sea lapped in the north of the Czech Republic. When the sea dried up, it left behind layers of soft sedimentary rocks that were washed away by water, destroyed by winds, and melted like a block of sugar. And so these strange outlines were formed, reminiscent of the figures of people and animals. The Adršpach rock city. The various formations, sculpted in the sandstone by forces of nature, were given romantic names such as Lovers (Milenci), Jug (Džbán), Mayor and his wife (Starosta a Starostová), Sugarloaf (Homole cukru) and many more. A small reservoir named Adršpach Lake was built on the Metuje River flowing through the upper part of the Wolf Gorge. Visitors can take a rowboat ride across the reservoir and admire the Great Waterfall. Bizarre shady gorges attract filmmakers from all over the world: some episodes of The Lord of the Rings were filmed here. As well as The Chronicles of Narnia, and The Third Prince. This Saturday, 12.02, you can walk among the rocks, pretending that we are walking at...
Despite the worldwide pandemic, Czechs have not lost interest in air travel. They even plan to invest more money in foreign holidays this year, as confirmed by a regular survey, conducted for Prague Airport by the Median agency among 1,565 respondents. Almost half of the survey participants stated they plan to spend over 46,000 crowns on their foreign trips this year. Two-thirds of the respondents plan to go on holiday more than once, and two-fifths of all survey participants want to spend at least three weeks abroad. Travelling is the leisure time activity missed the most by Czechs during the pandemic. It is missed by 65 percent of the survey respondents. In addition, according to the recent survey results, they plan to indulge a lot in travelling this year. Their motivation has been growing steadily despite the pandemic abatement measures. While only 38 percent of respondents wanted to travel by air in May 2021, last December, the share increased to 44 percent. The potential increase in the number of passengers from Václav Havel Airport Prague is also indicated by the finding that 66 percent of the survey respondents plan to travel abroad more than once a year. Compared to...

Following the latest update from the European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control (ECDC), the Czech Republic’s Ministry of Health has announced that all European Union/Schengen Area countries, except for the Vatican City State, will continue to be part of the dark red list. ECDC announced yesterday that all EU/Schengen Area countries have been registering increased infection rates over the last couple of weeks. For this reason, they have been coloured dark-red. In line with the current entry rules that Czechia has, all travellers from EU dark-red listed countries are required to take a pre-entry test and fill out an Arrival Form. The testing requirement applies to everyone, even to those who have completed their primary vaccination as well as to those who have recovered from the virus. On the other hand, the Ministry has explained that travellers from dark-red listed EU/Schengen Area countries who have already received an additional vaccine dose, also known as a booster shot, are exempt from the testing requirement. “Only foreigners vaccinated with a booster dose have an exception if they are vaccinated in a country whose certificate the Czech Republic recognises,” the Ministry states. Exempt from the pre-entry testing requirement are also children under the age...
The Norwegian airline Flyr will start flying from Prague to Oslo on April 7. On Thursdays and Sundays, it will offer connections between Prague and the Norwegian capital Oslo, and from June 14 it will add a third connection every Tuesday. Return tickets start at €99. The flight schedule foresees departures from Prague at 14:55 and from Oslo at 12:05. Flyr is an LCC carrier based in Norway. The airline operates domestic services in Norway and popular destinations in Europe with Boeing 737-800 aircraft. Flyr received an air operator’s certificate (AOC) from Norway’s Civil Aviation Authority on 17-Jun-2021 and launched passenger operations with Oslo-Tromsø service on 30-Jun-2021. In addition to Prague, the carrier announced the launch of flights to Billund, Stockholm, Pisa and Edinburgh. Oslo will thus become a destination with exceptionally high competition. Air Montenegro officially launched operations in June 2021. About Tivat Bobbing superyachts, a posh promenade and rows of swanky apartment blocks: visitors to Tivat could be forgiven for wondering if they’re in Monaco or Montenegro. The erstwhile-mediocre seaside town has undergone a major makeover – courtesy of the multimillion-dollar redevelopment of its old naval base into a first-class marina – and while it bears no resemblance to anywhere else in the country, Tivat is now attracting the uberwealthy...
In line with the data provided by the European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control (ECDC), the Czech Republic’s authorities have announced that all European Union and Schengen Area countries, with the exception of the Vatican City State, will continue to remain part of the dark red list. According to the latest update published by the Ministry of Health of the Czech Republic, all EU/Schengen Area travellers will be required to present a COVID-19 pre-entry test for another week. The pre-entry testing requirement applies to everyone, including fully vaccinated and recovered travellers. Nonetheless, the Ministry has explained that EU travellers reaching the Czech Republic from a dark-red listed country are not required to present a test result upon their entry if they have already received a booster dose. “Only foreigners vaccinated with a booster dose have an exception if they are vaccinated in a country whose certificate the Czech Republic recognises,” the statement of the Ministry of Health reads. Children under the age of 12 are also exempt from the pre-entry testing requirement regardless of their country of origin.
