A C-130 cargo plane of the Spanish Air Force carrying 10,000 protective medical suits donated by the Czech Republic reached Spain on Sunday (29 March 2020) as part of allied efforts to combat the effects of the coronavirus pandemic. The aircraft, which also carried 90 respirators, landed at Torrejón airbase for further distribution of the supplies by the Spanish authorities. A further delivery of medical equipment from the Czech Republic, including 10,000 protective medical suits is set to reach the Italian city of Milan by a truck on Monday (30 March 2020). Spain and Italy have requested assistance through NATO’s Euro-Atlantic Disaster Response Coordination Centre (EADRCC) with medical supplies such as personal protection equipment, respirators, masks and test kits. The NATO centre passed the requests on to NATO Allies and partners, who provide assistance on a bilateral basis. The EADRCC is NATO’s principal disaster response mechanism. “The Centre operates on a 24/7 basis, coordinating requests from NATO Allies and partners, as well as offers of assistance to cope with the consequences of major crises such as the COVID-19 pandemic,” said NATO Spokesperson Oana Lungescu, adding, “we are grateful to the Czech Republic for this generous bilateral aid to other NATO Allies – this...
A group of students in Prague are using surplus and deadstock fabric to supply masks to those in need of them Through coronavirus, the fashion industry has been hit on a multitude of levels. Not only have the gatherings which keep the industry turning been cancelled (including the entire fashion weeks and, worse yet, the Met Ball), but a growing number of retailers are opting to close their doors and potentially facing a loss in sales. Although what’s happening currently feels quite bleak, admist the chaos more and more stories of people using their talents and creativity to help others are emerging. Among them are the students, established designers, and others with access to a sewing machine who have begun to manufacture face masks – an amenity which is becoming more and more sought after as the world pandemic worsens. In Prague’s Academy of Arts, Architecture & Design’s studios, a number of students have so far crafted hundreds of face masks. Sending them out to ‘hospitals, retirement homes, volunteers or any other people in need,’ the initiative was put into place after the government issued an order that everyone should wear face masks but neglected to actually provide them. “During this weekend some hospitals in...

One of Havel’s first major speeches abroad was made in Washington, to a joint session of the United States Congress, on February 22, 1990. It received seventeen standing ovations. Address to US Congress, February 22, 1990 I have been president for only two months, and I haven’t attended any school for presidents. My only school was life itself. Therefore, I don’t wish to burden you any longer with my political thoughts, but instead will move on to an area that is more familiar to me. . . . “As long as people are people, democracy in the full sense of the word will always remain an ideal. One may approach democracy as one would a horizon, in ways that may be better or worse, but which can never fully be attained. In this sense you, too, are merely approaching democracy. You have thousands of problems of all kinds, as other countries do. But you have one great advantage: you have been approaching democracy for more than two hundred years, and your journey toward that horizon has never been disrupted by a totalitarian system. Czechs and Slovaks, despite humanistic traditions that go back to the first millennium, approached democracy for a...
Katie Hopkins – who was recently suspended from Twitter while they investigate her hate-spreading account – was recently the recipient of an award from ‘The Cape Town Collective For Freedom Of Speech’. Or so she thought – the only problem was the group was as fake as the award itself. The plan, dreamt up by Youtuber Josh Pieters, would see Hopkins contacted by email to inform her that she was the recipient of the fake award and then the copious planning of the event at which it would be presented to her. Pieters hired a room in a Prague hotel and brought in actors to play the parts of other members of the group. xosotin chelseathông tin chuyển nhượngcâu lạc bộ bóng đá arsenalbóng đá atalantabundesligacầu thủ haalandUEFAevertonfutebol ao vivofutemaxmulticanaisonbetbóng đá world cupbóng đá inter milantin juventusbenzemala ligaclb leicester cityMUman citymessi lionelsalahnapolineymarpsgronaldoserie atottenhamvalenciaAS ROMALeverkusenac milanmbappenapolinewcastleaston villaliverpoolfa cupreal madridpremier leagueAjaxbao bong da247EPLbarcelonabournemouthaff cupasean footballbên lề sân cỏbáo bóng đá mớibóng đá cúp thế giớitin bóng đá ViệtUEFAbáo bóng đá việt namHuyền thoại bóng đágiải ngoại hạng anhSeagametap chi bong da the gioitin bong da lutrận đấu hôm nayviệt nam bóng đátin nong bong daBóng đá nữthể thao 7m24h bóng đábóng đá hôm...

Elephants, tigers, giraffes or bears. From November on, wild animals will no longer be used in circus performances in Slovakia. This move comes as part of a wider international campaign. In Slovakia, it is also supported by law from September 2018, which defines an animal as a living and feeling creature. The regulation includes a list of the animals prohibited for use during public shows, including felines, primates, elephants, hippos, rhinos, dolphins, and giraffes. The ban does not include domestic dogs, cats, and ferrets, but their training conditions have been modified by the regulation. When training, it is not possible to use fire or narcotics and the animal cannot feel stress during the training. Public feeding, educational lectures at a zoo or falconry are not considered public performances. The State Veterinary and Food Administration carries out controls over health and the good living conditions of animals. If the ban is breached, a fine up to 20,000 Euro will be imposed on the perpetrators. More than 40 countries around the world currently have a ban on having wild animals (or at least some species) in circuses: 15 of them are in Europe. xosotin chelseathông tin chuyển nhượngcâu lạc...
Věra Jourová, the Czech European Commissioner for Justice, Consumers and Gender Equality, is among TIME magazine’s 2019 selection of the 100 most influential people in the world. In the profile she wrote for Time, competition commissioner Margrethe Vestager praised Jourova as “a leading voice calling for the regulation of big tech companies,” with a mission “to protect Europeans”. Her interest for the European law was sparked by a personal experience of injustice, and to this day she continues her tireless work to make data protection an everyday reality. In line with the work of Jourová, the ALDE Party is committed in its manifesto to establish a legal framework for a digital Europe that makes life better for all Europeans. Addressing issues related to data protection is self-evident, and according to the party’s manifesto, data protection policies need to be harmonised and balanced to ensure the EU’s future as place of innovation. Every year since 1999, TIME magazine recognizes the 100 most influential people in the world in an annual list gathering artists, leaders, scientists, activists and entrepreneurs its editors see as having changed the world over the last year, for better or worse.
