Kamara claimed Kudela called him a “f****** monkey”, something Kudela denied. Slavia said in a statement: “We respect the decision. In any case, Ondrej Kudela should not have approached the opposition player. I deeply regret that and apologize to Glen Kamara for a situation that has clearly caused distress to him and his teammates, as well as everyone associated with Slavia and Rangers. The 26th Volkswagen Prague Marathon moved from its traditional spring date to October 10. Throughout the pandemic, and against all odds, RunCzech has found dozens of creative ways to stage safe, small running events, along with other ways of keeping the running community engaged in their beloved sport. That has required near-constant meetings among RunCzech team members and authorities in local and national government. But finding an opportunity to stage its signature event—the internationally acclaimed Volkswagen Prague Marathon—has eluded them. Until now. Health and public officials now feel more confident that moving the race to the fall will make it possible for RunCzech to safely host a large-scale event, and accommodate the thousands of fans and volunteers who come out to support the participants. The Czech national football club traveled to Wales for Tuesday’s World Cup qualifier match against the Welsh national club. Noticeably missing from the group was Slavia Praha’s Ondřej Kúdela. Kúdela was believed to be absent due to concerns for his safety. Kúdela is currently in the center of recent controversy regarding an incident that occurred when the Glasgow Rangers FC faced off with Slavia Praha. The Prague City Hall will buy a plot of land in Troja (Prague 8), necessary for the construction of a new water sports park. The park will be designed for both professional athletes and general public. It will feature a tribune for 1,500 spectators, and an equipment rental facility (canoes, kayaks, paddles, life jackets, wetsuits). The length of the new water slalom track will be about 270 m. The Vltava River is perfect and flows against a beautiful backdrop, whereas the Troja Cana is inundated with water all year round and is perfect for water sports. The park will be designed primarily for sports training in water slalom, rafting, and kayaking. However, it will also be possible to host world championships or world cup races. According to earlier information, costs are expected to rise to around CZK 150 million. It is not yet clear when the complex will be built. Slavia Prague football club has decided to invite representatives of doctors and paramedics to attend a Europa League game against Glasgow Rangers on Thursday night. Czech freediver David Vencl has set a world record in men’s swimming under the ice. David Vencl swam the longest distance of 80.9 meters holding his breath on Tuesday. Vencl took one minute 35 seconds for the record at a lake in Lahost in the northern Czech Republic. Organizers said the ice was at least 30 centimeters thick, a condition for the record to be recognized. “The problem is not distance, but cold,” explained the extreme athlete, who has been training for the record for a long time. For safety, Vencl swam attached to a rope and was accompanied by divers with breathing equipment. There were about five holes in the ice in the event of an emergency. The Brno circuit decides against holding any world championship events during 2021, meaning no Czech Republic MotoGP. The Czech Republic Grand Prix at Brno, first held in 1965 and a fixture on the MotoGP calendar for all but one season since 1987, will not take place in 2021. The event had been missing from the initial draft of this year’s calendar, but with a date reserved pending a complete resurfacing, as requested by the riders on safety grounds. However, the Covid pandemic and resulting absence of any trackside spectators (Brno used to pull in close to 200,000) made the cost of such work hard to justify.
