The ongoing ramifications of the coronavirus have forced the cancellation of the 2020 Prague Half Marathon and Marathon this autumn but mass participation road races are beginning to return to the Czech calendar albeit on a small scale for the time being. Runners flowed into the check-in, showed their passports, got their start numbers, passed the security and boarded through the gate D6. Then the airport shuttle busses took them to the runway, but instead of entering the plane, they lined up at the start of a 5km Runway Run. 2,674 runners were lucky enough to secure their places in this sold-out once-in-a-lifetime event. They were split into different categories to abide by the public and health safety regulations. Categories included an astonishing Sunset Run on Saturday evening, or a sunny Breakfast Run on Sunday morning, with many of them joining 3km dm Family Run distance. Basically, runners were running with planes taking-off or landing over their heads. To spice up the excitement, RunCzech and the Czech Athletic Federation organized an Elite Run with a live broadcast on Czech National TV. Four Czech elite men and four women created mixed-gender relays in an exhibition race of 500-1000-500-1000 meters on the runway....
ČeskOOkolo (in English Czech Around) is a brand-new project launched by the Prague-based bike tour operator BIKO Adventures. Behind the whole idea there is Filippo, originally from Italy but living in the Czech Republic for a very long time. “I, Denisa (his wife, ed) and our team cycled every cm of this country and are now happy to put all our knowledge at your disposal. We are creating a website where there will be five cycling loops with about ten stages each. Those loops cover all the nicest places in the Czech Republic,” says Filippo. “We have just launched the first one called Central Loop and we are going to launch the other four as soon as we can. We are already working on the second,” he adds. The Central Loop includes ten stages that will take you through Unesco sites like Kutna Hora, Zelena Hora, Litomysl, Olomouc, Kromeriz, all while crossing the Czech countryside and connect Prague and Brno. How ČeskOOkolo works People can visit the website and find all the info they need to plan their trip (for free). You can find tips about what to see, where to sleep, eat, how to make stages shorter with trains, what...
The Czech Republic MotoGP in Brno on August 9 will be held behind closed doors due to concerns about the novel coronavirus, organisers said Friday. The Brno race is the third scheduled for this year after two grands prix in Jerez, Spain, with the season opener set for July 19. “Despite all our efforts, this year’s race will be held without an audience for security reasons,” the regional government based in Brno said in a statement, adding that tickets already purchased remained valid for next year. The season was originally scheduled to start on March 8 in Qatar before COVID-19 tore through the global sporting calendar. Czech health authorities have urged caution over a recent spike in new cases in the northeastern part of the country. xosotin chelseathông tin chuyển nhượngcâu lạc bộ bóng đá arsenalbóng đá atalantabundesligacầu thủ haalandUEFAevertonfutebol ao vivofutemaxmulticanaisonbetbóng đá world cupbóng đá inter milantin juventusbenzemala ligaclb leicester cityMUman citymessi lionelsalahnapolineymarpsgronaldoserie atottenhamvalenciaAS ROMALeverkusenac milanmbappenapolinewcastleaston villaliverpoolfa cupreal madridpremier leagueAjaxbao bong da247EPLbarcelonabournemouthaff cupasean footballbên lề sân cỏbáo bóng đá mớibóng đá cúp thế giớitin bóng đá ViệtUEFAbáo bóng đá việt namHuyền thoại bóng đágiải ngoại hạng anhSeagametap chi bong da the gioitin bong da lutrận đấu hôm nayviệt nam...
Monkey chants, a Confederate flag, “White Lives Matter” banners and even a call for the release of the policeman charged with the death of George Floyd have all been seen at football grounds in Europe over the past month. Fans of second division Czech side Zbrojovka Brno added a Confederate flag to their “Ultras Lives Matter” banner, while in Ukraine, second-tier FC Minaj fans went one step further when they revealed a “Free Derek Chauvin” message. The latest “White Lives Matter” banner showed up at Liberec stadium on Wednesday evening (July 1) during the final game in the Czech MOL Cup. On June 18, Sparta Prague fans directed monkey chants towards another black Viktoria Plzen player Joel Ngandu Kayamba, who was born in the Democratic Republic of...
Saturday, 1 August RunCzech organizes a 5km race through the real area of the Pilsen brewery!
Slavia Prague clinched a second successive Czech league title on Wednesday after a 1-0 win at home against Viktoria Plzen.
A few days ago, the organizers of RunCzech races have launched the summer challenge Česko běží dál (The Czech Republic keeps on running).
Slavia Prague look set for another Champions League adventure in 2020/21 after comfortably topping the regular-season Fortuna Liga table. In negotiating the playoff round thereafter, Slavia would embark on a second group stage odyssey in as many years. However, reality soon bites, with Slavia always finding themselves in one of the lower ‘pots’ for the group stage draw. Given that, they are invariably destined to face at least one of Europe’s top teams – a league champion at the very least, or even the Europa League winners or the reigning Champions League holders themselves. With the latter two titles potentially being held by English clubs ahead of the 2020/21 group stage draw, Slavia fans with longer memories may feel inclined to reminisce about past European clashes with Premier League opponents. Here are our top five: Slavia 2-1 Leeds – UEFA Cup Quarter Finals (2000) This remains Slavia’s most recent competitive win over an English club to date. By the end of the 1990s Leeds had grown into serious contenders for the Premier League, building on a fourth-place finish in 1998/99. However, this was the second leg of the UEFA Cup quarter finals, and Slavia were already as good as out,...
The challenge Česko běží dál (Czech Republic keeps on running) - a unique way of getting runners all across the country to compete at various distances, not virtually but on real courses.
Football stadiums in the Czech Republic will not open to the public until the beginning of the next season.
Today at the Sparta Prague tennis club starts a charity tournament to raise funds to help those affected by the coronavirus crisis.
Group indoor cycling classes have become an exercise favorite over the past decade. Many have flocked to instructor-led spin classes as a way to shed off the stress of everyday life (while getting a kick-butt workout.) For Prague residents looking to break a sweat, Zoom Cycle opened a new spinning center in Prague 8 on May 8. The new spin center, located at Rohanské nábřeží 693/10, boasts 24 brand new Schwinn bikes, energetic instructors, a fully air-conditioned cycling room, and full locker room amenities. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, the studio is using only 8 bikes per class spaced 2 meters apart. Weekend sessions are held outside weather permitting. Zoom Cycle is a 45 to 60-minute intense cardio and strength cycling training. The training will, of course, give you a workout physically– cycling is known to build cardiovascular endurance, strengthen leg and core muscles, boost your metabolism, and burn calories. But Zoom Cycle also places emphasis on the stress-relief experience of the workout. Cardio exercise releases endorphins, so cycling classes are a great way to relieve stress and boost your mood. Walking into a Zoom Cycle class, you will notice the dimmed lights and pulsing music in the cycling room. This...
