Česko Okolo: Discover the Czech Republic by Bike!

ČeskOOkolo (in English Czech Around) is a brand-new project launched by the Prague-based bike tour operator BIKO Adventures.

Behind the whole idea there is Filippo, originally from Italy but living in the Czech Republic for a very long time. “I, Denisa (his wife, ed) and our team cycled every cm of this country and are now happy to put all our knowledge at your disposal. We are creating a website where there will be five cycling loops with about ten stages each. Those loops cover all the nicest places in the Czech Republic,” says Filippo.

“We have just launched the first one called Central Loop and we are going to launch the other four as soon as we can. We are already working on the second,” he adds.

The Central Loop includes ten stages that will take you through Unesco sites like Kutna Hora, Zelena Hora, Litomysl, Olomouc, Kromeriz, all while crossing the Czech countryside and connect Prague and Brno.

How ČeskOOkolo works

People can visit the website and find all the info they need to plan their trip (for free). You can find tips about what to see, where to sleep, eat, how to make stages shorter with trains, what useful apps to download, where to recharge e-bikes during the ride, and much more. Filippo and his team worked closely with the local municipalities so the loops have the freshest and most detailed info about every destination.

“We designed different variants of the stage so we can accommodate every kind of cyclist, from occasional to avid. Road bikers also have dedicated routes,” says Filippo to Prague Morning.

Each stage can be used as a standalone for local regional cycling which will make Česko Okolo, once completed, one of the biggest organized cycling databases in the country. Moreover, cyclists can collect tourist stamps on a dedicated booklet that they can download from the website.

The website now has a mobile version but an app will be hopefully available for the next season depending on investors.

This is just the beginning

“We also want to create a project that helps businesses all over the country, not just those on the main touristic routes, and last but not least, it also has the ambition to reduce traffic. As I said, for now, we developed only one the Central Loop, using our resources. But in order to keep this beautiful project going and launching the other four loops we need support. We hope that people who rode the loops or will ride, donate some money. We hope to find some major sponsors and some smaller ones,” concludes Filippo.
