The Czech Republic has closed the Czech House in Moscow due to Russia’s aggression against Ukraine and for the safety of Czech citizens in Russia. Five administrative employees would be in charge of the Czech House now. The Czech Republic withdrew its consent to the operation of the Russian general consulates in Karlovy Vary, and Brno.

The opposition ANO supports the government decision to declare a state of emergency in order to care for the Ukrainian war refugees and the transfer of CZK 1.8 billion to humanitarian aid. The state of emergency will be valid as of Friday for 30 days and will have no impact on Czech citizens.

The Czech police have detained a man on suspicion of approving of and justifying the Russian aggression in Ukraine online, Jaroslav Ibehej. The accused man supposedly committed the criminal activity through his posts on social media. If convicted, his sentence may range from six months to nine years in jail.

Three of the four largest brewers in the Czech Republic: Plzeňský Prazdroj, Pivovary Staropramen and Budweiser Budvar, have announced that they are suspending beer exports to Russia. Heineken, the third-largest Czech beer producer, has not yet issued any official statement.

Prime Minister Petr Fiala and President Miloš Zeman have agreed to guarantee impunity to Czech nationals who want to go to Ukraine to fight alongside Ukrainians in defense of their country.
