  • Czechs sorted an average 71.8 kg of waste in 2021, five kg more than a year ago and 77 percent of 1.33 million tonnes of disposable packages on the market in 2021 were recycled or re-used, show the data of the Eko-kom company that organises recycling and waste collection events in Czechia.

  • Senate chairman Milos Vystrcil and Chamber of Deputies chairwoman Marketa Pekarova Adamova are conducting talks on Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy addressing the session of both houses of the Czech parliament, they tweeted today. Both Vystrcil and Adamova concurred that “everything is on the right path.”

 

  • The Czech Republic has so far granted 348,177 temporary protection visas to Ukrainian refugees fleeing from the war since its start on February 24. Roughly 200,000 refugees from Ukraine are staying in the Czech Republic now, while part of them will return to their home country.

 

  • Education Minister Petr Gazdík announced on Thursday that his ministry will launch a project in September that will support 400 disadvantaged schools in the Czech Republic with CZK 1.8 billion.

 

  • The Czech government has approved a request to extend by 30 days a state of emergency imposed to help deal with a wave of Ukrainian refugees, Prime Minister Petr Fiala said after a cabinet meeting.
