The Czech Republic’s first museum dedicated to illusions and trick art, the Illusion Art Museum Prague, located on Old Town Square, will have its grand opening today from 19:00.
Illusion Art Museum Prague (IAM Prague) is bringing the global explosion of illusion art and trick art to the Czech Republic. The museum’s exhibits bring to life historical techniques of creating illusions in art into the 21st-century selfie and social media age and encourages guests to touch and interact with all of its exhibits.
IAM Prague occupies two full floors in the historic Dum U Červené lišky on Staroměstské nám. 480/24, directly opposite the Orloj. The building was purchased by Coast Capital Partners Czech Republic, a firm that specializes in the development of high-end residential and commercial properties, at the end of 2017.
The first floor of the Illusion Art Museum Prague is dedicated to a permanent exhibition of illusion art, and the 2nd floor will host a rotating series of special exhibitions each devoted to local contemporary artists.
Currently, the second floor features one of the single largest exhibitions of Czech sculptor Patrik Proško ever assembled, “Patrik Proško: On the Edge of Reality.” It highlights his land art, site-specific, installations, sculptures, and painting work from the period 2013-2018.
