Five Czech servicemen, who were on a border security mission near the US Bagram air base in eastern Afghanistan, were injured by a car bomb blast, the Czech General Staff stated.
“The attack on the Czech patrol occurred on Wednesday around 1220 GMT near the Bagram base in the Parwan province,” the ministry said in a statement. The five soldiers were injured when a civilian vehicle loaded with explosives was blown up near an armored vehicle which then rolled over, it added.
Czech media have reported, citing sources in the Defense Ministry, that a Czech unit had killed one of the organizers of the attack on a Czech patrol in August, which left three NATO servicemen killed, including two Czech personnel.
Thirteen Czech soldiers have been killed in NATO missions in Afghanistan.
