From Lisbon to Hanoi, New Flight Options From Prague This Autumn
Prague Morning
The autumn school break is approaching, and travelers departing from Prague still have options for trips abroad.
However, those hoping to find cheap flights may struggle to secure a good deal, as fares tend to rise closer to departure and fewer seats remain available at lower prices.
Families face an additional challenge. When booking four tickets together, they may discover that the cheapest fare is available for only one or two passengers, forcing them to pay more for the remaining seats.
Airlines are also dealing with high fuel costs and strong competition, making it important to fill as many seats as possible.
A search conducted on Wednesday, October 7, found that Kraków and Gdańsk were among the cheapest destinations available for the autumn break week.
New flights from Prague and postponed routes
Prague Airport has announced several new connections for the autumn and winter seasons, although some airlines have postponed their planned launches until spring.
Smartwings, for example, has delayed the introduction of flights to Venice, Italy, and Bergen, Norway. Both routes were originally scheduled to begin before the autumn break but are now expected to launch in March.
Despite the changes, Prague Airport continues to list the destinations among its new routes, with their original launch dates still displayed. According to the current schedule, Smartwings’ next new connection is to Lisbon, with flights due to begin on October 23.
Travelers heading farther afield have another option. Vietjet Air launched its Prague–Hanoi service on Saturday, October 10. The route includes a stopover in Kazakhstan, rather than offering a nonstop connection to Vietnam.
Closer to home, easyJet’s new route from Prague to Hamburg provides another option for the break. Return fares were available for around CZK 4,000.
Marrakech joins the network as winter routes target skiers
EasyJet is also scheduled to launch flights from Prague to Marrakech, Morocco, on October 25. The new connection will increase competition on the route, although fares during the autumn break are relatively high.
A return ticket can cost as much as CZK 16,000, excluding baggage. Prices can be considerably lower outside the peak travel period.
Wizz Air is adding flights to Poprad, Slovakia, while Sky Alps is expected to begin services to Bolzano, Italy, in early December. Both destinations provide access to mountain regions popular with winter sports enthusiasts.
Another seasonal option is Eurowings’ planned route to Rovaniemi, Finland, which is scheduled to launch on December 20. Located on the Arctic Circle, the city is closely associated with Santa Claus and attracts visitors during the Christmas season.
