A golden Airbus A350-1000 operated by Taiwan’s STARLUX Airlines landed at Václav Havel Airport Prague for the first time on Tuesday, September 1.
The aircraft, registered as B-58554, carries the special AIRSORAYAMA Gold livery created in collaboration with Japanese artist Hajime Sorayama.
Prague is one of only three destinations where STARLUX plans to operate the specially designed aircraft on a regular basis, alongside Tokyo and Phoenix.
The arrival marks another step in the expansion of STARLUX’s new direct connection between Prague and Taipei.
The airline launched the route on August 1, initially using the smaller Airbus A350-900. From September, the carrier has switched to the larger A350-1000, which can carry up to 350 passengers in four travel classes.
STARLUX, Airbus and paint manufacturer Mankiewicz developed a multilayer coating using mica particles to create the metallic effect while meeting aviation safety requirements.
Increasing capacity on Prague route
STARLUX launched Prague as its first European destination on August 1, connecting the Czech capital directly with Taipei three times a week. The service currently operates on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays.
Flight JX101 leaves Taipei at 12:10 a.m. and arrives in Prague at 8:35 a.m. The return flight, JX102, departs Prague at 10:35 a.m. and arrives in Taipei at 7:55 a.m. the following day.
The switch to the A350-1000 increases the available capacity on the route. The aircraft has four travel classes, including First Class, Business Class, Premium Economy and Economy.
An additional Monday flight is scheduled to operate from October through November, bringing the route to four flights per week during that period.
