How Public Transport in Prague Will Work on New Year’s Eve

In connection with the expected celebrations of the arrival of 2024, the capital is once again preparing traffic and security measures, which will mainly affect the center of Prague.

On New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day, an increased number of police officers, paramedics, and firefighters will be on duty.

Moreover, the Prague Public Transit Company (DPP) will extend the operation of the metro on New Year’s Eve to approximately 2:30 am. The operation of tram day lines will end at approximately 10 pm, then the operation of night lines will start. Until approximately 3:30 the interval between trams will be 15 minutes, then, until 7:00 it will be 20 minutes.

Metro:

  • The operation is extended until approximately 2:30 a.m. (on 1 January 2024) with the interval of 10 minutes.
  • Departures of last connections from the terminal stations:
    • Line A – Nemocnice Motol at 1:51 a.m., Depo Hostivař at 1:53 a.m.
    • Line B – Zličín at 1:40 a.m., Černý Most at 1:45 a.m.
    • Line C – Letňany at 1.44 a.m., Háje at 1:44 a.m.

Trams:

  • The operation of daytime lines is terminated approximately at 10:00 p.m., afterwards the enhanced operation of night lines is launched from approximately 10:00 p.m. until approximately 7:00 a.m. (on 1 January 2024).
  • All guaranteed transfers are cancelled for the entire night.

Buses and trolleybuses:

  • The operation of most daytime lines is terminated approximately at 10:00 p.m. Subsequently, selected lines are operated with adjusted intervals.
  • The operation of night lines is ensured from approximately 2:30 a.m. to approximately 7:00 a.m. (on 1 January 2024).
  • During the metro operation period, the terminals at the metro stations are served by night lines. Bus 904 is routed via the Zličín stop, bus 908 via the Skalka stop, bus 911 via the stops Roztyly and Letňany, and bus 916 via the Letňany stop.
  • All guaranteed transfers are cancelled for the entire night.
  • Buses 143 and 187 are not in operation.

Funicular:

The operation is terminated by the last ride at 5:00 p.m.

Trains:

  • The operation of trains is terminated approximately at 8:00 p.m., afterwards limited operation is maintained until approximately 10:00 p.m. – 11:00 p.m. with the interval of 60 minutes.
  • The operation of line S49 is already terminated at approximately 7:00 p.m.

1 January 2024 (Monday) – New Year’s Day

The operation of PID lines is identical to Monday, 25 December 2023, except for buses 143 and 187, which are in operation on this day.

Trains:

Lines S3 (in the direction of Prague) and S49 are operated approximately from 7:00 a.m.

2 January 2024 (Tuesday)

  • PID lines are operated in line with holiday timetables for workdays.
  • Tram 21 is not in operation.
  • Tram 16 is operated only in the route Kotlářka – Ústřední dílny DP.
