Almost two-thirds of Czechs believe that Petr Pavel will make a good president, according to a survey conducted by the Median agency for Czech Radio. Close to 60 percent of respondents said they were happy with the election result. Over 70 percent of respondents said they were confident that he would represent the country well abroad.

A spokesperson for the Chinese Embassy in Prague has called on Czechia to avoid further tensions in relations between the two states and to respect its commitment to the One China policy. The comments followed a meeting between Czech Foreign Minister Jan Lipavský and members of the Tibetan community in India, which he is currently visiting.

The Motocross Expo (MX Expo), the biggest fair for motocross fanatics in the Czech Republic, will take place from 8-9 April, in the Breclav Culture House. The MX Expo Fair will feature stands focused on different aspects of motocross, from equipment to nutrition, or where visitors can buy new cycles, accessories, or clothes, as well as interviews and lectures.

Poland has authorised the extension of mining at the Turow lignite mine, located next to the Czech and German borders, until 2044, the Czech Environment Ministry confirmed to CTK today.

The Czech Philharmonic will play at the inauguration of Petr Pavel as president at Prague Castle on Friday next week, a spokesperson for the ensemble said. The event will culminate with the concert, conducted by Jakub Hrůša and also featuring the Prague Philharmonic Choir.
