- According to foreign ministry data, Czechia provided 20.86 billion crowns in development aid in 2022. Compared to 2021, this is an increase of 12 billion crowns. Aid to Ukraine amounted to 14 billion crowns last year. The foreign ministry has listed six priority countries for development cooperation, namely Bosnia and Herzegovina, Ethiopia, Georgia, Cambodia, Moldova and Zambia.
- The UN Agency for Refugees (UNHCR) is transferring more than 37 million crowns to Czechia to help with the integration of migrants. The money is to be used for Czech language courses, legal and social counselling and leisure activities for refugees.
- The Russian cultural centre in Prague, run by the Moscow state agency, has come under close scrutiny by the Czech authorities, Czech Television reported. According to the national broadcaster, the centre has been engaged in translating President Putin’s speeches and official Kremlin propaganda materials into Czech.
- Budějovický Budvar, a Czech brewery known for its production of Budweiser Budvar beer, has seen a significant decline in profits over the past year. Despite challenges such as the halt in exports to Russia and rising energy and fuel costs, the company remains committed to its goals and is poised to continue making strides in the future.
- Real household consumption per capita decreased by 2.6% quarter-on-quarter and by 7.6% year-on-year. The non-financial corporate sector saw an increase in profit rates quarter-on-quarter and year-on-year but a decrease in the investment rate.
