On Wednesday, the Railway Administration (SŽ) presented the winning design of the bridge that should replace the existing railway under Vyšehrad. The 2T engineering studio designed the three-track bridge between Výton and Smíchov. Only the lower part of the original bridge will remain.

Eight historical buildings, mainly châteaus, castles and monasteries, have been added to Czechia’s list of national cultural monuments. Among them, is the Augustinian monastery in Brno where Gregor Mendel discovered the laws of inheritance by cross-breeding pea plants. Two other Augustinian monasteries and five castles and châteaus around the country were also awarded the status.

Three baby turtles of a rare species known as the enigmatic leaf turtle have hatched in Prague Zoo, the Czech News Agency reported on Wednesday. This species of turtle is little studied in the wild and is classified as a Near Threatened species by the International Union for Conservation of Nature.

The latest edition of CzechInvest’s Creative Business Cup, which seeks the most innovative and promising Czech startup businesses, is returning in January, with the ten best projects selected by the end of the month. The finalists will be presented at the Czech final in Usti-nad-Labem on 23 March 2023.

The Czech police recorded 15,409 cybercrimes this year in the period from January to the end of October, a significant increase from previous years.
