  • Veteran English goth-rockers the Sisters of Mercy will play in Prague on 12 October 2023 at the Lucerna Music Bar. The band’s founders Andrew Eldritch and Gary Marx started out playing post-punk, before moving towards a darker Goth-influenced style over the course of their career.

 

  • Czechia still has military equipment in its stores that it can send as aid to Ukraine, said Defence Minister Jana Černochová. The minister and the chief of the Czech Army’s general staff, Karel Řehka, will meet with President Petr Pavel in the coming days to discuss the topic and supply him with a list of the equipment that could be sent.

 

  • Czechia’s public deficit for 2022 lay at 3.6 percent of GDP, an improvement when compared to to the 5.1 percent registered in the previous year. Meanwhile, government debt rose from 42 to 44.1 percent of GDP during the same period, the Czech Statistics Agency announced on Monday.

 

  • Czech tennis player Petra Kvitová has returned to the world top ten for the first time in two years, following her triumph in the Miami Open at the weekend. The 33-year-old is now 10th in the women’s rankings after her maiden victory in Miami.

 

  • Czech businesswoman Renata Kellnerova and her family have asked a court in Alaska to investigate the 2021 helicopter crash which killed her husband, billionaire Petr Kellner, and four other people.
