Goalkeeper Petr Čech, 36, won the Golden Ball award for the best Czech footballer of the season for the 12th time, the poll organizers announced on Tuesday.
This is the third time in a row for Čech, who plays for English Premier League giants Arsenal, to win this award.
Last season the Arsenal man became the first goalkeeper in the English Premier League to achieve 200 clean sheets. Though now retired from the international game, he is the most capped Czech ever with 124 appearances.
Čech, former captain of the Czech Republic national team, won 919 points in the 22nd Golden Ball sport journalists’ poll. Midfielder Antonin Barak and defender Pavel Kadeřábek took the second and third place with 728 points and 657 points respectively.
