Two Dead After Axe and Knife Attack at Prague Hostel

Two people died and another person was seriously injured after a violent axe and knife attack at a hostel in Prague.
Police officers responding to the scene shot and killed the attacker, who had also threatened them.
The incident happened on Thursday evening at a hostel on Vídeňská Street in Prague 4, according to Czech news outlet Novinky.cz, which first reported on the case.
The hostel is located near the Institute of Clinical and Experimental Medicine (IKEM), and the attacker and victims were reportedly employees of the medical facility.
Police said the suspect attacked people inside the building before turning on responding officers. The officers used their weapons against him, and the attacker was killed at the scene. Authorities later confirmed that no further threat to the public remained.

Emergency crews treated four people following the incident. Two victims suffered cardiac arrest and rescuers immediately began resuscitation efforts. Despite their attempts, both patients died.
A third person suffered serious injuries caused by a sharp weapon. After receiving medical treatment, the injured person was transported to a trauma centre while conscious.

The fourth person involved in the incident was not physically injured but required medical attention due to psychological and internal complications, according to emergency responders.
Police continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the attack, including the motive of the suspect.
