Prague Welcomes a Week of Polish Films and Culture
Prague Morning
Prague will host a week of Polish cinema and culture from November 9 to 15, as the 3Kino – Polish Film Festival Prague returns for its 13th edition.
The festival will screen 13 feature films representing contemporary Polish cinema, with a program that also includes theater, stand-up comedy, exhibitions, music and events for children.
This year’s festival opens with The Doll (Lalka), directed by Maciej Kawalski. Based on the classic novel by Bolesław Prus, the film is among the most expensive Polish productions ever made and takes audiences to 19th-century Warsaw.
The story explores love, ambition and social divisions, with Marcin Dorociński, one of Poland’s best-known contemporary actors, in a leading role.
Freedom will be the central theme of this year’s edition. The festival will explore the idea through historical events as well as everyday life, personal relationships and decisions that can alter a person’s future.
The program extends beyond the cinema. Visitors can attend theatrical performances, stand-up shows and exhibitions, while this year’s edition will also put a special focus on Poland’s Lower Silesia region.

Among the accompanying events is the opening of photographer Rafał Pawłowski’s exhibition Shadows of Sounds. Another exhibition will mark the 100th anniversary of the birth of Polish filmmaker Andrzej Wajda, featuring a selection of Polish film posters.
The festival aims to bring Polish culture to audiences across Prague, with screenings and accompanying events taking place at several venues throughout the city.
Ticket sales are now open, and the full program is available on the festival’s official website.
