Twelve Prague Tram Lines Changed Due to Repairs in City Center
Prague Morning
Tram services on Spálená Street and Národní třída in central Prague have been suspended due to track repairs.
The closure, which began on Saturday, will continue until August 10 and affects 12 tram lines operating through the city center.
The Prague Public Transit Company (DPP) has not introduced replacement bus services during the disruption. Passengers are advised to use the metro as an alternative, especially for journeys through the busiest parts of the city.
The affected section runs between the Újezd and Lazarská stops and impacts tram lines 2, 4, 5, 9, 18, 22, 23, 42, 93, 97, 98 and 99.
Several routes have been temporarily modified. Some trams are being redirected through the National Theatre stop on Masarykovo nábřeží, while others are operating via Myslíkova Street and Jiráskovo náměstí, or through Anděl and Švandovo divadlo. Some lines have received more significant route changes.
Two Temporary Tram Lines Added During Repairs
To help manage the disruption, DPP has introduced two temporary tram services.
Line 32 connects Vypich with Sídliště Řepy, while line 39 runs between Vozovna Žižkov and Náměstí Bratří Synků.
A new temporary stop has also been created at Malostranská. During daytime operations, trams will stop on the Edvarda Beneše embankment in the direction of Čechův most. During night service, the stop will operate on Letenská Street in both directions.
Track Repairs Include New Switches and Overhead Line Upgrades
The ongoing construction focuses on replacing worn sections of the tram infrastructure at the intersection of Spálená and Lazarská streets.
Workers will also repair track curves, install two new grease traps near the Máj department store, modernize two tram switches and replace aging overhead line poles near the National Theatre.
Additional local repairs to the tram network will also be carried out during the closure period.
