June 20: RefuFest in Prague to Bring Cultures and Communities Together

Prague Morning

RefuFest will return to Prague on June 20, 2026, marking its 20th anniversary edition at VILA Štvanice Theatre and the surrounding outdoor area.

The event, organised by the non-profit InBáze, will coincide with World Refugee Day and run under the motto “Courage. Resilience. Responsibility.”

RefuFest has long been focused on intercultural exchange and community life in Prague. Organisers say the aim is to create an open space where people from the Czech Republic and abroad can meet through music, food and shared experiences.

“This year’s motto reflects the need to return to basic values in a time of uncertainty,” said Barbora Hanzalová from InBáze. Co-organiser Jana Remenárová added that the festival continues to focus on dialogue and mutual understanding.

The music programme will feature a mix of international and Czech artists. Among the highlights is the All Star Refjúdží Band, bringing together musicians from China, Kurdistan, Armenia and the United States.

Other performances include Cumbia Cooperativa with Afro-Caribbean rhythms, and Balkanzor, a multinational band combining influences from Spain, Peru, France, Greece, Bulgaria and Czechia.

The line-up also includes Ritmo Gitano, blending flamenco, rumba and salsa with Romani traditions, and Anatolian Grooves, drawing on Turkish psychedelic rock and microtonal music. Czech singer Klára Vytisková, winner of this year’s Anděl Award for Female Artist of the Year, will also perform.

Alongside music, the festival will host community stalls representing 17 countries. Visitors will be able to sample traditional food, take part in workshops, and meet people who have built new lives in the Czech Republic.

The programme will also include discussions and educational events. Live Storytelling will present personal migration stories in a live journalism format, while Slam Poetry Your Voice will feature young performers with migration experience.

Non-governmental organisations working with migrants, including SIMI, OPU, ADRA, Caritas Czech Republic, UNHCR and others, will also present their work.

RefuFest takes place from 12:00 to 22:00. Admission is free.
