Prague Welcomes STARLUX Airlines With New Taipei Connection

Prague Morning

Taiwanese carrier STARLUX Airlines has launched its first European route, connecting Taipei with Prague.

The airline’s first flight arrived at Václav Havel Airport Prague on Saturday morning after a journey of more than 14 hours. The service is initially being operated with an Airbus A350-900.

STARLUX plans to operate the Prague-Taipei route three times a week at first, with a fourth weekly service scheduled to be added from October.

For passengers traveling beyond Taiwan, the route also offers connections through Taipei to more than 25 destinations across Asia. These include cities in Japan and South Korea, as well as destinations in Southeast Asia, Hong Kong and Macau, according to Simon Liu, STARLUX Airlines’ director of strategy.

The new route makes Prague the airline’s first European destination. STARLUX launched operations only in 2020, two years after the company was founded, but has since positioned itself as a premium international carrier. Skytrax has awarded the airline a five-star rating.

A first-class cabin aimed at luxury travelers

STARLUX is introducing its Prague route with all four of its travel classes: Economy, Premium Economy, Business and First Class.

The First Class cabin has just four seats and comes with a price to match its exclusivity. Return fares can start at around $12,000, or roughly CZK 280,000, although prices vary depending on travel dates and other factors.

The experience begins before passengers reach the aircraft. First Class travelers departing from Prague can use an airport pickup service included with their ticket. In Taipei, the journey can continue with a limousine transfer from the airport to the passenger’s final destination.

Passengers also receive dedicated check-in facilities, priority airport processing and access to a private suite in the airline’s lounge.

On board, each First Class passenger has a private cabin with additional space and privacy, along with an enhanced dining and service offering.

Special AIRSORAYAMA aircraft coming to Prague

The aircraft serving Prague will also change later this year.

STARLUX plans to introduce its two specially designed AIRSORAYAMA Airbus A350-1000 aircraft on the Prague route. The planes were created in collaboration with Japanese artist Hajime Sorayama and feature metallic silver and gold liveries.

The airline has confirmed that the A350-1000 will replace the A350-900 on the Prague route from September. The two AIRSORAYAMA aircraft are scheduled to enter regular service on routes including Prague from October 1, when the airline also plans to introduce themed in-flight amenities.

The aircraft were created in partnership with Sorayama, whose work is known for its highly polished metallic representations of robots and the human form.

For Prague passengers, the arrival of the AIRSORAYAMA aircraft will add an unusual visual element to the new long-haul connection. The silver and gold A350-1000s are among STARLUX’s most distinctive aircraft and form part of the airline’s wider effort to combine aviation with contemporary design.
