  • According to the president of the Association of Czech Beer Brewers, Michal Voldřich, the higher costs of energy and raw materials such as malt and hops, will send up the price of beer by an average 10 percent as of June.

  • The State Health Institute has reported another suspected case of monkeypox in the Czech Republic. The institute confirmed the first case of monkeypox in the county on Tuesday, and is now analyzing the samples of people who came into close contact with the infected person.

 

  • The median monthly wage last year rose by about 6% to CZK 35,169, standing at CZK 37,070 for men, and CZK 32,800 for women, according to the data published this week by the Czech Statistical Office.

 

  • A recent study conducted by e-learning platform Preply of over 130 European cities across three categories: ‘Education’, ‘Health and Safety’ and ‘Leisure and Lifestyle’, has ranked Prague as the 5th best city to raise children.

 

  • Trade union leaders and government representatives on Wednesday failed to reach agreement on wage growth in the public sector in the second half of 2022. The unions are demanding a hike that will make up for the soaring inflation.
