The Coca-Cola truck is making its way to the Czech Republic and Slovakia this Christmas! Coca-Cola’s ‘The Real Magic Christmas Experience’ is coming to over 30 cities in the Czech Republic and 20 in Slovakia. The theme of the Christmas campaign, “Christmas Always Finds a Way”, is based on the idea that “Christmas is an unstoppable force that will find a way through anything to bring back the joy, togetherness, generosity and true magic around the festive season and holiday food”. The trucks, which were first introduced in 1995, will also support the campaign after a hiatus caused by the pandemic. The popular Letná ice rink is set to return, welcoming skaters from Saturday, November 16, 2024, and running daily until February 23, 2025. This extended season means skaters can enjoy the outdoor rink near Prague Castle for three weeks longer than last year. Thanks to funding from Prague’s 7 district, children up to age 15 who live or study in the district can skate for free. Parents should provide a document verifying their child’s eligibility—such as a school ID, ISIC card, or student book—especially if not accompanying their child to the rink. To enhance the experience, visitors will find a heated tent for changing clothes and relaxing, along with outdoor seating, restrooms, skate rentals, and a sharpening station. Light snacks will also be available on-site. No reservations are needed for general skating, but schools are encouraged to reserve in advance via the operator’s website. An online webcam will also let visitors check rink occupancy in real time, helping them avoid busy hours. The Cake House is an innovative and modular home concept that was presented at the Designblok festival in Prague. The project was founded by Matyáš Švejdík, Pavel Špringl, and Šimon Marek, and described as an “architectural recipe for modular wooden houses”. The Cake House is intended to be a pitched-roof house that can be adapted and customized to the various needs of different people. “The main idea of Cake Houses stands on the belief that if you come up with good basic space and construction principles, you can then plot variable and individual designs fast and reliably because of the standardization,” said Švejdík. The overall shape of the house is maintained at all times, although, the length is personalized according to the customer’s needs. The Cake House utilizes an online configurator to try out hundreds of different layouts and internal and external finishes. The limited-time menu will feature both sweet and savory dishes, all centered around autumn’s favorite ingredient—pumpkin. On Saturday, 21 September, the Czech Republic will host the 19th edition of the beloved “Experience the City Differently” (Zažít město jinak) festival, an annual event that encourages locals to reclaim their streets. This year’s theme, “Slow Down,” is a gentle reminder to pause and savor both city life and community connections. Organized by the AutoMat association, the event will transform streets, courtyards, parks, alleys, and squares into welcoming public spaces. “The Experience the City Differently festival is traditionally held on the third Saturday of September, coinciding with European Mobility Week and International Car-Free Day. It invites residents to explore their familiar streets from a fresh perspective,” explains Barbora Hradečná from AutoMat. Prague will celebrate Oktoberfest with a three-day event planned in Riegrovy Sady! The event is from September 26 to 28 (Thursday-Saturday). The fourth edition of the annual festival will feature six traditional Bavarian beers on tap such as Hofbräu Dunkel, Paulaner, and Löwenbrau as well as several Festbiers including from Germany’s oldest brewery: Weihenstephaner. Typical bavarian food will also be served, with pretzels, radishes, Bavarian sausages, and burgers on offer. Visitors are encouraged – but not required – to come in traditional Bavarian fancy dress. You will also be able to taste Festbiers, for example from the oldest German brewery Weihenstephaner. “There will be typical Bavarian delicacies such as pretzels, radishes, and spread Obatzda or Bavarian sausages.
