The Prague City Hall is to cancel the register of dog breeders due to an amendment to the Animal Protection Act which will take effect from January 1, 2022. When the amendments come into force, all breeders will be obliged to report dogs and the required data to the Central Veterinary Administration so a unified central register of dogs and their breeders can be established. From the start of next year, the municipality has also decided to cancel the relief from the fee that people received when registering an animal which will, in turn, increase the city’s income each year. People will still need to continue to pay the fee for a dog of 1,500 crowns per year, or 600 crowns in the case of breeding in family houses. Previously, they offered a discount to breeders if they had their dog marked with an identification number and registered it in the city register. Taiwanese government ministers were visiting Prague on Monday accompanied by dozens of business and research representatives to boost trade and investment, a move that has angered China. Minister of National Development Kung Ming-hsin is leading a delegation of 66 officials representing business and research groups and organizations, including biotechnology, green energy, information technology, machinery and tourism. Zaha Hadid Architects has shared updates and new visuals for the Masaryčka Building in Prague. The studio said that construction continues with the structure of the retail levels on the ground and first floors now completed. The studio revealed first plans in 2016 to design a new urban development adjacent to the city’s Masaryk Railway Station. A set of new visuals show that the studio has refined the plans and gave a more detailed look to the complex with façade elements and overall composition. Zaha Hadid Architects also added that works have begun to construct the higher floors of cantilevered offices with terraced roof gardens. The building is planned to open in 2023. Everything is pointing to the establishment of a fourth center-right government in the Visegrad Group following the recent parliamentary elections in the Czech Republic. The SPOLU coalition received the most votes and is comprised of the right-wing Civic Democratic Party (ODS), the Christian Democrat-People’s Party union KDU-CSL, and the liberal-conservative TOP 09. Even though a new government has not yet been formed, and the coalition agreement between SPOLU and the second election block (PirSTAN) has not yet been signed, the future ruling camp is being put under constant pressure by the liberal-left environments and media. They are demanding one thing: that Petr Fiala’s government decisively cut themselves away from Poland and Hungary’s policies and even distance themselves from the V4, separate itself from Andrej Babis’ legacy (and therefore cease referring to the concept of national interest in foreign policy), and change its approach towards the EU’s migration policy. The Hamburg/Berlin duo, which has filled Roxy to the top each time they performed in Prague, is bringing a live performance this time. They will perform at Roxy on November 12. Kollektiv Turmstrasse is a project initiated by the musicians Nico Plagemann and Christian Hilscher from Luebeck, Germany. The duo’s musical style can be broadly labeled as minimal techno. It was in 1998 when the two boys hung out together and decided to form a collective, back in Hamburg, on the Turmstrasse street. Their first tracks were inspired by early Detroit-Techno and Acid House, which changed into dubby groove techno-like releases by Raummusik, Mosaik, and Basic Channel. They turned into the main activity and resulted with their first release in 2001 on electronic parliament. Today, they stand behind a spree of legendary tracks, EPs, and albums, which got them as far as Solomun’s Diynamic label, for example. The duo has performed at such festivals as Melt, Homerun, Off Week and Distortion.
Starting December 3, the carrier will introduce a new route to Amsterdam, with flights four days a week. The departures will always be on Tuesdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays, according to a press release. Vueling currently operates three routes from Prague Airport to Barcelona, Paris and Florence. “We are extremely pleased to announce today the launch of our new line,” said Charlotte Dumesnil, Vueling’s director of sales, distribution and alliances. “Vueling’s goal is to continue to contribute to the new standards in the air and tourism industry, to restore connectivity and to offer new destinations for both tourists and sales representatives,” she added. The new route is a welcome change for airport staff, who are looking forward to a revitalization in tourism as travel picks up again. “Vueling’s new air connection between Prague and Amsterdam will offer more opportunities for Czech passengers who are planning an extended weekend in Amsterdam but will also support the renewal of inbound tourism. From 1 November, under the latest anti-covid-19 measures, restaurants will have to start checking their guests to see if they have been vaccinated against coronavirus, have a negative test, or have suffered from the disease in the last six months. It comes after the government approved a set of new measures against the spread of Covid-19 in a meeting on Wednesday. One of the measures has a direct impact on the operation of restaurants, which may affect how many unvaccinated guests will go to them. However, the government said that checking whether people who come to the restaurant are vaccinated or tested should not change much. Even now, the obligation to have a completed vaccination or a negative test on arrival at the restaurant applies, although the inspections are so far only random and carried out by hygienists or by the police.
